Nervous about something stupid... (LONG and wedding related) UPDATE BOTTOM OF P. 3!

Original post by bluegreen08

Don't quote, I'm going to delete the details but....

I have to call Lillette's back tomorrow and I'm nervous because I'm a baby.

Basically I'm usually OOT but I'll coming back to NY for my spring break to get some wedding stuff done. I set up my hair/makeup trials for the 15th, and will be picking up my veil from Barrons and I wanted to pop into Lillette's and try on my dress.
I've been growing my hair out since August and want to see how my hair looks with the dress (if it's too long, too short, if I like the style, etc) and also the veil.

I called Lillette's last week to set up an appt to come in and try on my dress, and the woman I spoke to on the phone was SO nasty to me. She basically said she couldnt make me an appt because I would just be wasting their time.

I was like...wait, what? She said 'oh you have to understand, we are a busy store and you'd just be wasting our time since you already ordered your dress with us and we need to focus on new customers'... I said I only wanted to slip on one dress which should take 5 minutes, and I didn't need a full appt to try on multiple dresses etc. She said sorry, we cant let you waste our time and if you come in without an appt and we're busy we'll just ask you to leave. (that's why I wanted to make an appt!) I ended up telling the woman I was disgusted by their lack of customer service considering we ordered my dress, 6 BM dresses and my grandma's dress with them, and hung up.

My mom wants me to call back again and ask for the bridal consultant we've been working with... but I'm still kind of frustrated and I'm a little afraid to argue with them again.

OMG I'd be furious...what kind of customer service is that? To tell you flat out that they dont have time for you because they need to focus on new customers? I went there to look, I am so glad I didnt get my dress there! Even Davids Bridal let me go back to try on the sample of my dress!

I can't believe that! I've gone to visit my dress several times and no one at Macy's has ever given me a problem. If you call back, ask for a manager or an owner and explain how you were treated.

I'm mad for you too. I don't understand what is wrong with people, ugh i'm having such a bad day I would gladly punch her out for you.

Definitely call back tomorrow and if you get someone rude, tell them you'd like to speak to someone with better customer relations!!!!!!!!!! Don't be shy, they are the rude *****!

Of course you should call the person you've been working with. Let her know how unhappy you are with the person that spoke to you on the phone. I ordered my dress from there also and I would demand the service. Do they realize how many people are on this site and a bad review like this can seriously hurt them.

Anybody who treats customers like that should be reported to the better business bureau--.. especially customers who spent LOTS of money there.

Definately call back and ask for a manager or someone who will be WILLING to help you. Hopefully the woman was just having a bad day...good luck with everything!

omg....i think i would have flipped my sh!t on that woman!!! no, really!!! i would call back, ask to speak to a higher up, and threaten to complain to the BBB and LIWeddings....ugggghhhh that just really irks me that people think they can treat customers any way they want!

i hope it works out for you

take a breather and make sure your calm a bit then call them and ask to speak to your consultant that is absolutely unacceptable customer service!

My mom thought when I called back I shouldnt bring up call #1 unless my bridal consultant mentioned it. Do you agree? (I don't know if she knows what happened, ie: if they all laughed about how unreasonable I am or if she doesn't know it happened)

Also, do you think they would take revenge by doing something to my dress? Like spitting in my food but more extreme? I don't really want to threaten them for this reason.

It's tempting to just call back and make an 'appointment' for that day without saying what it's for.... but I don't need a full appointment and who knows what they would say to me once I got there.

Thank you for your comments, she made it sound like I was the unreasonable one but I know a lot of people have gone back to try on theirr dress sample. It's not like I do it all the time either, the last time I tried on my dress (well, the sample) was the first week in Sept when I had to bring in my shoes and get the measured hem measurements taken so they could ORDER it.

i would mention the first call but just to tell the new person how unprofessional, rude and ignorant that person was. you are a paying customer. see, i am of the mind set that i am not worried if they do something to my dress (which they most certainly would NOT as that would lead to harsher repercussions) because someone will PAY for that...i just want someone to know and understand that they CANNOT treat customers that way, it is no way to run a business. but then again, i would probably just show up there and cause a big scene!!!!

good luck and keep us posted

i would have freaked out with the woman, so good for you for not doing that....ppl are redic. Im OOT too so when i come in i have to get everything done in a few days. I would call back, let them know what happened, and if they still refuesed i would make anohter apt. I also would have someone go pick up the dress the day it comes in and take it someplace else to get it altered so i didnt have to deal with them anymore...HTH

honestly, i have not been happy with them either. they've always been okay with me (i worked with lydia) b/c i always made an appt before i went. but i sent my friend and FMIL there to look, and both times they were rude to them b/c they didn't have appts, and were like staring them down. they told FMIL the dress she brought a picture of was a BM dress, not MOB, and they were nasty about it so she got fed up and left.

I'm going saturday b/c my dress (which was also ordered in early Sept. ) is in and though it's too early for a fitting they told me to come in and try it on b/c i made so many changes to it. I had called another time and asked Lydia if I when i came in I could try it on b/c i wanted to get a pic of it with the lace so i could have my veil made at Barron's, and she said absolutely fine.

but i can totally see what happened to you happening. I'm fed up with them to the point I want to tell her, but it's the kind of thing where they get so much business that I don't think they care that much. I'm always happy with Lydia but I can see the attitude popping out here and there.

go saturday! I'm going at 1

Lydia is my bridal consultant and has been very nice to me and my family. All of my BMs complained about how rude people were to them when they got measured and slipped on the sample. One BM had to clip the dress on another BM because people refused to help them. They were super nice and helpful to *me* and my family once I ordered my dress, so I was shocked about this whole experience.

I really wanted to go this Saturday but my hair person who is usually available Saturdays is busy this Sat and I really want to go after my hair trial. My mom thought I should wear my hair up with my dress, I prefer my hair half-down and I want to make sure it doesn't take away from the dress. Also, I have straight hair and want to try to wear it curly, so i want to see how THAT looks with my veil/dress. It would be fun to see you there though!

Wow....I'm going there on Sat. 3/15. I'm big into customer service...i think it's the true pulse of a business.

You have every right to want to go try on your dress. I don't think I would've been as calm as you.
