NEW JEWISH WEDDING THREAD

hey ladies- i'm getting married at Temple Beth El in Cedarhurst and I often feel like a loney temple bride because everyone has all these threads about Westbury Monor, Swan Clun, etc. but no one has a 'temple' thread! I don't even know if I have a hall twin!!!

Congratulations girls!! I'm not Jewish but FMIL so we may be incorporating Jewish traditions in our wedding. This is a great idea for a thread!! What are some Jewish traditions that you girls are doing?

Hi girls,

I just had my Jewish wedding at Oceanside Jewish Center. You can check out my pics. I also just started working as a wedding coordinator, so FYI- if anyone's needs help planning your wedding, you can find me under coordinator as Stress-Free Bride NY or just FM me.

I have up a pic from Temple Beth-EL. I helped some good friends plan their wedding there.

Hey girls!
I don't think a temple thread has been done, but there is definitely a Jewish brides thread for us!
We're getting married at our hall - because my synagogue is in Manhattan - but my rabbi will be officiating, and we will be having a traditional ceremony.

I'll bump the original threads...

My parents just went to a wedding there and they were really impressed. Of course my mother then started second guessing the temple I'm getting married at....typical thing for her to do! Morrell Caterers have amazing food....a friend of mine got married at Temple Beth Torah in Dix Hills and the food there was by the same caterers and it was delicious. Usually it's very difficult to find good temple wedding food because it's almost always kosher, so they're limited as to what they can cook with.

I was raised 'conservadox' and my FI is reform so we will be incorporting more traditional elements and blending them into a more modern ceremony. In addition to having the chuppah and breaking the glass, I will be having a bedeken in private (when the groom 'checks' to make sure its the right bride and places the veil over the bride's face-goes back to Jacob, Leah and Rachel). We also want our close friends and family to read the 7 blessings insead of having the Rabbi say them all and I am thinking about circling, but havnt made up my mind yet.

I think it depends on the caterer, kosher or non-kosher. Ive had very bad non-kosher food at weddings and amazing kosher food at weddings

I have never been to a wedding there, but we went for a tasting and it was soooo good! I really think its not kosher vs kosher, but the quality and attention to detail that matters!

Beth El was one of my top choices, btw

Re: NEW JEWISH WEDDING THREAD

My wedding was at Temple Avodah in Oceanside. They are rather reform and their caterer is not kosher thus the food was incredible. I wanted a temple wedding because getting married in a house of G-d was important to me but kosher food was not as important. Kosher is always more expensive anyway as you need to pay extra for the food as well as the supervision of the Masgiach. Most temples caterers that are not kosher (as well as halls) will have a vendor they use to provide glatt meals to particular guests needing kosher meals. Avodah goes through Mauzones (I think) and has everything double wrapped from soup to nuts and they provide utensils too.

I am Jewish. FH isn't. So our ceremony and wedding will be at our hall.

I've been to a wedding at Woodbury Jewish Center, the food was delicous. Seriously, the cocktail hour food was the best food I've ever eaten at any wedding EVER.
