Anyone have mixed feelings about taking on your new last name?!?
Super excited to be a new family with a new last name but a part of me is having withdrawal at the idea of being called by a new name....identity crisis?

My FH is possibly taking my last name. He doesn't really like his last name and definitely doesn't want the kids to have it. HIs family actually made up their last name so its not like he will be turning his back on them.

i did not want to change it , well i wanted to hepan my name but FH was not up for that so i will be changing it

I want to change my last name!! To me it is all part of the marriage process!!! I love my last name but I am ready for a new one.

It's def gonna sound weird at the beginning considering I hear it everyday, tons of times per day from my students but I'll def love it!

i'm a bit confused what I am going to be since I'm a doctor. I don't know what the hell to do for my passport and license and all that stuff. Very confusing!! What I may do is make my current last name my middle name, then my married last name as my last name.

this is where my issue comes in: i love my maiden name and love my FH's last name. I was never against changing my name when i married, but i will be getting my doctorate around the same time i get married, but will already be published under my maiden name..... my family presents strong reasons for why i should keep my maiden name for my professional life and take his name for my personal life. and my FH is persistent about me taking his name personally and professionally....it turns into a war anytime the topic comes up.

I'm keeping my last name. If ppl want to refer to me as mrs. E I'm okay with it, but I prefer my last name.

i'm thinking about hyphening my last name... My fiancee said he would take my last name (ahh thought that was cute) but thats too wierd I think.. I guess it was the thought that counted.. :)

I am def a little sad! I love my last name! I keep the same initials tho so im happy abou tthat, and I do love my soon to be new last name. I plan on giving my last name as a middle name to a son if i am lucky to have one some day!

To answer this topic...I'm realllyyyyyy excited to take that step and make everything official, but at the same time, I'm going through withrdrawal symptoms knowing I won't be a K anymore. But now, FH and I will have the same initials lol

I hate my last name, it is a girls first name so my whole life people always call me by my last name, school, doctors, etc. I cant wait to get rid of it!

I'm less that thrilled about changing it cuz I think it kinda almost rhymes with my first name, or sounds like I should be on the Jersey Shore (a Jew with a Guidette name?).
I also have an interesting situation - I had one last name from when I was born until I was 22 because my mother had me keep her old married name for child support purposes. When I was 22 I took what I believe was my rightful last name (my step-father adopted me) --- the name of the man who raised me, and had been my father since I was 7. I always wanted my dad's last name, and I've only had it for 6 years - I'm not ready to give it up, but kinda have no choice. I've changed every thing to my married name, except my professional license, so I'll stay my maiden name at work only.

i am dreading changing my name. i actually am not even fully changing it - i am hyphenating and i dont even want to do that! I love my last name...people call me by it. i cant imagine losing that part of me. plus i HATE fh's last name.

I love my new last name... even though it moved me further back in the alphabet, it's easier to pronounce. The first time someone called me Mrs. T, I did say 'huh?'... that takes some getting used to!
