I bumped the old thread... but it's FIFTY FRIGGIN PAGES, lol, and while those pages are helpful, I thought it might be nice to start a new one, and anyone who wants to can read the old one at their own leisure.

Sooo, here it is.

I know I'm going to need some advice in this area in the coming months and I can't be the only one, so let the discussion begin!

Hey--- I didn't even know this thread existed!

So dress shopping... I have been putting it off but just came across a plus size line by Bonnie. Anyone heard of it or seen the dresses in person?

I've seen Bonny online, but haven't seen it in person. I bumped the old thread and there are a ton of dress suggestions in there!

when you start looking, you might want to go to Estelle's in Farmingdale to get an idea of styles. I was suprised but they have a good selection in larger sizes to try on.

I think I actually tried on a Bonnie there and they also had Venus bridal.

plus size bride here... although since being on a diet for a month I am down 17lbs! =]

RK Bridal in the city has a bunch of plus size dresses you can try on...I also think Paradise Bridal (not 100 % sure though) Also David's Bridal

Like another bride told me there are many places with plus size dresses.

my dress is a Bonny it's spelled with a 'y' & I think the 'O' might be a heart but whatever haha anyway & I looooove it!! I got it at Paradise Bridal in Patchogue :)

Hello--im a plus size bride if u really want to know the truth of this go and try on whatever you can put on even if you cannot get it buttoned up try for a corset so much easier i went to lynbrook bridal center and tried on a bunch of dresses there that were size 18 and up i went with a pc marys dress but ordered it from commack bridal...davids bridal has large sizes to try on as well but i didnt like the fact that i had to order my dress right away because they were afraid of it getting discontinued because they discontine their items quickly..estelles is great but commack bridal center has a whole section of plus size gowns and you can actually order a dress that you see even if you cant get it on in plus size most all manufactures go to either a size 28 30 and dont get discouraged you will find your dress if i can do it u can do it

For you girls that have tried on/ordered already...

The 'thinner' girls for lack of a better term often talk about how their street size is a few sizes smaller than their wedding dress size. How true to size was your wedding dress? Did you have the same issue or was it pretty close to the number you usually wear?

I was about 2-3 sizes bigger. I ordered the dress a little bigger for the tatas!

I was true to size. I ordered the size I wear. I guess it depends on the dress. Paradise bridal has alot of plus size gowns.

mine was 2 sizes larger then my usual street clothes. Im in a pickle because I think I might want to sell my dress because I found another one I love. Its a size 26 but im a 22 in jeans and i lost 20 lbs and now im a 20.

any suggestions on what to do with the dress? anyone know any places that buy brand new wedding gowns. its still at the salon just came in. TIA

i got my dress at paradise bridal. there are pics in my album. it's an alfred angelo.


as far as size goes, my bridal gown is 3 sizes bigger than i normally wear.


i'm glad someone decided to start a new plus size thread.
