In light of my recent budget analyis, I felt that it was importatne that i confirm that I am NOT insane with the amoung of money this wedding is costong- ant the ony way do that is to prove to myself that I am not the only crazy one!!
SO- Poll women!!! And- i know you may be uncomfortable putting the actual numbers--- but how much DID you go over if you did-- and how shocked are you by it??!?!

I'm working hard w/30K budget. I know we can do it,,,but there have definately been some sacrifices.

My budget was very low.... so far with everything expet video, I spended 14,400.00 ....I need cheap 500 dol package for my video in church...yeah i know im cheap...

i originally thought our budget could be around $25k but as we get deeper and deeper into planning i'm thinking $30k- $35k is more reasonable, considering when i did our initial budget i totally forgot about the HM!

I think I am crazy, but more than 20K seems nuts! We just bought a house over the summer, and I can see doing SO much more with the money. We are having our wedding at a beautiful place, with a good amount of people....I think total we'll be around 17-19K...with no sacrifices.
I guess I just can't imagine what could bring the cost to 50K, unless I tripled the amount of people I invited.

Including the HM ours is over $40K.....but my parents are paying for most of it (yes we are VERY lucky)....we paid for the HM, rings, etc, and FILs are paying for some other things.....so the grand total that everyone is spending is probably about $50K including RD, day-after brunch, etc....
Granted FH has a BIG family....and my family is Italian so welcome to inviting tons of cousins (which was my the decision of my parents, and since they're footing the bill.....if they want to invite them, and I don't mind, who am I to complain!)

It adds up quickly in Long Island, more than you would think. The only way to keep it cheaper is to have a smaller party. Feeding people isn't cheap on the isle...lol
Plus I have calculated everything. I have a spreadsheet & I went around pricing things to death. Still unless I cut people out there is no way around the cost..
I even priced something on the beach & at face value it seemed cheaper, but the liqour was extra plus we have to get additional add on to make it work & in the end it would have been almost as expensive but with more aggravation..lol

I think I've been doing with the budget so far but I'm starting to get tighter to control spending. I can easily spend a lot on invites or veils or I can get the same effect and save some $$$.

All I'll say is that FH thought that 20K was a big number..that was before we started to plan and the reality sat in. When we added everything up, not including some things, he was like woowwwww that 20K was a complete underestimate lol

I really under estimated, when we started planning! But as soon as I knew what my RH cost was,,, then it was put into perspective. I will be over what my budget was.
