My wedding is July 3rd 2005 in New Rochelle. I live in Queens, right by the whitestone bridge. Anyhow, it was pointed out to me today that there maybe a tremendous amount of traffic on that day due to the holiday. All of my guests will have to go over the bridge and all of us new yorkers know what that is like on holidays. Any ideas, suggestions or advice? Or possibly some words to calm me down.

Re: New York Traffic!
Some things you just can't help, but I have to say, most people will already be where they are going for July 4th, so it might not be as bad as you think it will.

I'm sorry, I know traffic sucks. I am sure people who really care about you and your FH will stick it out to be part of your wedding. Do you live in Whitestone? That is where my FH lives.

Re: New York Traffic!
I wish! I really like it here. I am not sure where we will live but most likely I will move to Astoria with him. I dont have anything against Astoria, I grew up there but I cant deal with the traffic and the parking issues. Its horrible.

Yeah my FH told me about the parking in Astoria. I wanted to go to dinner there but he mentioned to me there is little parking there. Where do you teach?

Re: New York Traffic!
I live in Bayside - right over the Throgs Neck Bridge. I don't think the traffic will be that bad going from Queens to New Rochelle. It might take longer than usual, but I wouldn't worry - everyone will get there and have a great time! I went to a July 3rd wedding last year and it was way out on Long Island - there was a lot of traffic but surprisingly not as bad as I expected - we all had a wonderful time. What is your timing between the church and the reception?

Re: New York Traffic!
Sorry to break into the Neighborhood Block party..
hehe
Just wanted to add.. you can't ever really predict the traffic. It's like the weather, what will happen will happen. If it's not a holiday it's a traffic accident. You just can't worry about it. I always try to leave early to stuff and just sorta roam the area if Im early. They should however take into fact it's a holiday.
