No children at the wedding...

In order to keep the GL and cost down... FH and I decided that we do not want to invite any children under the age of 16 to the wedding. Not even a flowergirl or ring bearer.

While we have a while before we have to send out invites... I'm curious to know who else is having no kids at the wedding and how you are going about doing it. Is it on the invites?

No children at the wedding...

We aren't writing anything on the invitation, mostly because we've made it completely known that there are absolutely no children invited lol.

No children at the wedding...

We are trying to figure out the cutoff ourselves. We are thinking you must be at least a freshman in college. FG and RB are the only exceptions.

No children at the wedding...

We did not put it on the invite, but if anyone asked we told them we wanted them to have a wonderful time without having to worry about the kids. There was a little confusion in the beginning, but both of my Aunts with small children completely agreed, they are so excited to have a night off!

My flower girls and ring bearer will also be headed home after cocktail hour.

Re: No children at the wedding...

we plan on addressing invitations to 'families' or including the kids names on the envelope if they are over age 16...otherwise it's just getting addressed to parents names only

Re: No children at the wedding...

I had our parents on both sides start spreading the word in conversation that no children will be invited and for the most part people are okay with it. We sent out STDs last month and I addressed the parents by name. I didn't write 'The SOSO Family.' The only kids we are having are FH's nieces and nephews (10-16 yrs), the FG (4), which is his Goddaughter and my godparents' children which are in HS.

No children at the wedding...

I had to talk my FH out of inviting all of his friends kids!! I'm 24, he's 30, so most of his friends have kids by now. The only children invited are our cousins..no friends children except for the ring bearers. The invites will be addressed to either 'Barragatos and Family' if with kids, or just the last name of the couple without children.

Re: No children at the wedding...

I don't want children at our wedding. fh was all afraid about offending people by saying they can't bring their children. he's still worried about that actually but whatever lol.

to me a wedding is something that doesn't have children running around etc. I remember our engagement party my mom threw down south she had all these kids there (very obnoxious) they were running around like crazy, knocking over gifts, getting food all over tables, etc. one even randomly left a ring pop on my mom's table. gross.

one of the little girls even randomly came up to me and wiped her nose on my dress! ewwww. when my mom throws me a shower down there I already demanded I do invites and know the guest list. she thinks it's mean to say no children. I don't see how it is. no idea how to word it on invite. I've heard stories of people writing out entire families even when you address it to a mr & mrs blah blah. I think it's best to put 2 seats have been reserved in your honor. and if they have a 16 year old send them a separate invite maybe even include a guest for them.

No children at the wedding...

The only children going to the wedding are the Jr. BMs: my 2 nieces and future step-daughter. We've started spreading the word that kids are 'NFG' (no friggin' good). My mom has been nice enough to spread the word to family members.

To be honest, we cannot afford to have everyone's kids at the wedding. Not to mention the fact that I would have a stroke if I saw finger prints on the wedding cake.

I'm fully aware this makes me a horrible person and I'm OK with that. :)

No children at the wedding...

We are only planning on having my FI's nieces and nephew and my cousin's two children at the reception. Best man's children are coming to the ceremony and cocktail hour before heading home with the babysitter. Another cousin will probably also have his 1 year-old son, but he doesn't factor into the head count because he's so little.

I thought it was going to be a bigger problem because my other guests have children, but most are telling me that they want to have an adult's night out. (Plus, my wedding is over at 1 AM... most of the guests have little ones who won't make it that late.)

does NOT make you a horrible person. I can't afford to feed my friends 4 kids. If everyone brought their kids... it would be another 50-75 guests. Thats ridiculous. I can't afford that.

Not to mention the fact that I want my friends to be able to enjoy their night and not have to worry about their kids running around... OR my other friends having to worry about trampling on other peoples kids.

Re: No children at the wedding...

Doesn't make you a bad person at all, just be sure to stand your ground! We're not having kids either, except for the ones in the wedding party. We simply can't afford it and don't want kids running around. I was at my cousins wedding a few years ago and there were a ton of kids running around the whole time and they took the disposable cameras off the table and ran around flashing one another in the eyes with them. I knew at that moment I would never have kids at my wedding

We haven't decided how we're going to handle the invites, but several relatives with kids inquired when they received the save the dates, so we were able to nip that. I had one cousin continue to push the issue and I had to flat out tell him that we're throwing a party for 200 people and he is not the only guest with children-- that ended that conversation!

I have seen it worded on invites at the very bottom 'Adults only reception to follow' I also read on a site where the couple put the invited guests names on the response card:

Mr. & Mrs John Smith
__ will attend
__ will not attend

Not sure how easy that is to have done, but it makes it pretty clear who is invited.

Good luck and don't give it a second thought or let anyone make you feel bad!

No children at the wedding...

We have 5 RB and FGs in the ceremony, but otherwise I don't think anyone will be bringing kids. It's just not done I our families. Weddings are considered an adult night out.
