I am helping to plan FSIL bridal shower but I am trying to avoid the typical bridal shower games. Does anyone know of any non-tradional things to do at a bridal shower? TIA

WELL WHAT MY GIRLS DID WAS INSTEAD OF A HAT WITH THE RIBBON AND BOWS, MY GIRLS TOOK 3 PAPER PLATES ( I THINK THATS WHAT THEY USED) AND MADE LIKE A BINKI OUT OF THE RIBBONS AND BOWS, IT WAS ADORABLE.

My girls are just throwing me a cocktail party. No games, no gift opening, no boring old ladies, etc.....just not my thing

I looked into this for my own shower...and outside of going to a pottery place (where everyone makes something) there isn't many new and interesting ways to do the shower. I was extremely pleased with what my BM's did...we played like 1 game with everyone and everything moved along quickly. It was great. We opened presents in between meal courses and the only game we played wsa how well i know FH....other then that we did food, presents and 1 game...nothing too cheesy. I'm not a fan of showers so i wanted mine to be as painless as possible!

I would've loved a cocktail party...but my mom said that it wouldn't fly with the women that would be coming. It's true the nature of hte shower is so people can see you open their gifts. But it does sound more my speed!

Re: non-traditional bridal shower
For my cousin's bridal shower, we had a cooking lesson at a place in Manhattan. Then we ate the food that we made.
They did open the presents afterwards though.
If you want the info, send me an FM and I will find it for you.

Re: non-traditional bridal shower
we played 'getting to know the bride' ...basically 30 questions about me were printed out and given to each guest ex: Whats Nicole's fave t.v. show , fave color , if she had a million dollars how would she spend it , fave food etc.. everyone had to answer including me and whomever got the most right one a prize...it was fun seeing what everyone wrote..people have some crazy imaginations when it comes to how well they know someone else.

Re: non-traditional bridal shower
My mom threw an open house bridal shower at her house. There were 3 rooms that people could hang out in. People sat and chatted in one room, ate in another and I was opening gifts in another. I NEVER opened a gift without the giver in the room, but people could sit and watch me open gifts all day or they could not really come into the room. It was a great mellow day, no games, lots of talking and getting to know each other.

my bridesmaid made a 'game' by setting up a timer and every so often it would go off, and the person whose gift I was opening won a beautiful prize. It was awesome.

Re: non-traditional bridal shower
I was thinking of getting everyone involved in opening the gifts. Because everyone knows how boring it is to watch someone open gifts for 2 hours and I get extremely uncomfortable when everyone is staring at me, lol. I am going to have everyone sit in a circle and hold their gift, then I will ask them to pass their gift down to someone else. Then one by one we can all go around and each open a gift. I will open any of the cards because they are more personal, but I just want everyone to be involved. I am sure some people will think of it as me being ungrateful or something (mostly his family) but I want to keep people awake and involved. It doesn't mean I am not extremely thankful for anything we get, because of course I am. We'll see how it goes. :)

Re: non-traditional bridal shower
i heard there was a bridal shower that was done online. they just used video conferencing or something. it was because the future bride was living in another country from her parents and couldn't go home to have a party. it's a great non-traditional bridal shower.
