Just wanted to say that I went there yesterday to pay my last deposit. It looked great. They were setting up for a buffet style wedding. I asked a couple of questions. There is one waiter per table, I also asked about the band. Maybe you have noticed that the place for the band to play has changed. I asked why and they said that they were fined and the location had to change because they were blocking the fire exit. I was a little unhappy about that because I really like the band at the head of the room. Also, the amount of valet people you have depends on the amount of guests at the wedding. They have nothing to do with it. The company sends over the workers. Yesterday they had 246 people and had 4-6 valets. I spoke with a girl that I have never seen before. I was also told that they planted bamboo to cover the turnpike. I think that wraps it up!

When you walk in the room they will be on the right. It looked more proportioned the other way!

The band is to the right where you first walk in. I was upset too when I saw that because I like it at the head of the room. Plus it screwed up the table arrangements I had set up in my head! They didn't give me your explanation which I can appreciate! They said the people straight ahead from the band will have the hardest time hearing .. so put the young people there!
They also told me the same about the waitstaff (this changed from when I booked but for the better). The valets - they told me the same but did say at times it does get backed up and the valets do the best they can. It is just because there isn't much room and everyone gets there at the same time. I am not too worried.
Can't wait..I am in the process of doing my seating chart now! 20 days to go!

Interesting story about the band - they had told me (when they first moved it) that it is just a better place for the band because now there aren't any tables 'on top' of the band. BUT now the table(s) to the left of the head table (if you are loooking at the Bride/groom) are in a crappy spot.
Whatever - I can't get stressed over this!
I have 34 days to go!!!!!!

vamdep - whose family will go in that 'crappy spot'? yours or your FI? that was why I was upset...originally FI's family was going to be on the side of the room where the band stand now is...now if I put them there I know they are going to think I gave them the bad spot on purpose!!! We both have 4 family tables (4 tables are what goes in that bad spot) so that doesn't help any!!!
What time is your appointment - you have the appointment the day of my wedding...I will probably get there around 5:15-5:30ish!

This totally stinks! Having the band at the opposite end of the bride and groom's table was the ideal location. It made the room proportional. I haven't been to the NRC in a while so I can't even picture how the room will look with the band to the right of the entrance. Will there not be any tables on that side of the room? It seems so odd. Ugh!!

There are 4 tables that will be in the front of the room next to the bride and groom table. Then is the entrance, then band/dj and then there can be three tables on the other side (I don't plan on using them - they are tables 21-22-23..that bad seats I guess).
All the rest are on the other side of the room.
I have a picture of the seating chart...maybe I can scan it tonight to show you. Not sure how well it will come when shrunk down.

That space will be empty. I don't think it will be bad. I only will need about 17 tables anyway (The floor plan I have is for about 23 tables). When you see the floor plan I think you'll see better. I have to remember to post it tonight. It will all be fine don't get upset. I know it took me off guard when I went for my planning meeting and was very upset that night. Now I am not letting it bother me but I haven't told either family yet! Once they find out I am afraid to hear the complaints. I have enough family issues!

I am going to need at least 20 tables but it looks more like 22. I still have a while before I do the seating charts and all but this stinks.

I originally thought I would need 20 tables (I invited over 270 guests but wound up with only 170 - a lot of people from out of state aren't coming). So I will only need 17. They require 10-12 per table. It is really hard to do that.
I scanned the picture but it came pretty crummy..Let's see how it looks. I had to shrinkit down which made it worse.
Wow..not too shabby! better than I expeceted. let me know if you need me to explain anything!

Thanks so much! Exactly where is the fire exit? Wouldn't those tables that are there now be blocking it? Who would know if the exit was blocked that night? hahahhaa.....

This is from NRC. I got this at my planning meeting. They give you a folder of stuff you have to fill out and return the week ofyour wedding.
I am not sure where the fire exit is. I do not think they will let you move the band/DJ ..plus they kind of put a stand there..I think.
I am starting to work on my seating chart. I am still waiting some late-coming responses. I am doing combos of 10, 11, or 12...depending on the tables. Hopefully they will let me have a couple 8's and 9's.

great picture!!! The fire exit is right where tables 17, 18, 19, and 21 are. My question is how are people going to sit so close to the band (tables 20, 22, and 23) without going deaf! I am going to seat my fiance's friends there!! hehe

I said the same thing but George (my maitre d) said that the tables directly across from the band/dj have it the worst as far as noise being the way the speakers are pointed...so who knows...???
