but I was just on BHB and there was a post about showing e-rings and I love seeing everyones rings
However, the post promted this question for you: do you think it is necessary to let other people know how big your stone is and/or are you insulted/annoyed when people in 'real life' ask you the size??? I think it is a very obnoxious question. Who gives a crap how big it is??
Sorry JMO and Im tired of people doing it to me and to my friends.

That is rude, I don't it is anyone else's business. Especially people you don't realy know well, like strangers.

Re: Not being rude....
honestly, I don't think it is anyone's business how big/small my ring is! I think when someone asks, it is rude...
I take exception though, some family & close friends asked me & I don't mind telling them! But complete strangers!!!!

Re: Not being rude....
well I posted on there and I followed the format that I saw in the begining- I really didn't think about it
I take it as a complaint when people ask me- I think it's rude it they asked me how much Jake paid for it- but not how big it is

sometimes people equate the too unfortunately. it's a status symbol maybe? I don't know...I don't have a diamond...but that's something I've said before...you think people are rude about size! you'd think my fh gave me a rotten fish the way some people react!

Re: Not being rude....
i agree with u all. .5 carat ring could be as beautiful as 3 carat ring. people shouldn't ask the size of the stone

Re: Not being rude....
FH friend got engaged a couple of weeks ago. He asked me point blank in front of his fiance and everyone else in the room, 'How big is your stone?' I was shocked. I answered him but was truly taken back that someone would have so little class to ask such a question - but some people have no class.
My ring is special to me because it was given to me from the most special person in the world.. and if it was 1 carat or 10 carats, it would still mean the same thing to me.

Re: Not being rude....
To be honest I don't even know the exact size of the stone. I don't really care. My FH bought it for me and I thinks it gorgeous no matter what size it is. Yes, rude, yes tacky. JMHO!

'do you think it is necessary to let other people know how big your stone is?'
No it's no one's business and I don't answer when people ask me anyway.
'Are you insulted/annoyed when people in 'real life' ask you the size???'
Totally, I've realized people get sneaky with the questions now...like 'Oh, that's so-and-so many carats right?' So that I can correct them. I just don't answer at all and change the topic. I really don't understand the obsession with size and price. I don't understand what that has to do with anything. Do people really think the larger your ring is the more FH loves you???? So sad!

Re: Not being rude....
I couldn't agree with you more, Michele!!! In all honesty, I'm not even sure how big it is. I know FH told me but I'm not even sure I if I heard him right.
It's seriously the absolute LAST thing on my mind, the size isn't important it's the meaning behind it that I care about. The words that were spoken to me when FH put it on my finger, that's what I think about when I look at it.

Re: Not being rude....
I think people ask b/c it this crazy world when celebrities give each other 24 K rocks after 2 days of dating- people are obessed now more then ever
I don't think people even think of it as rude anymore
now what I think is rude is when people put there grubby hands on my stone! I hate that!

Re: Not being rude....
I completely agree! With the exception of really close friends and family, I don't like telling anyone any of the details. I've already had about 5 people ask me how much he paid versus how much it's appraised for. Why does that matter? If someone knows anything about rings, they'll be able to look at it and guess the size.

OMG--That drives me clear up the wall! First of all don't touch me, second of all don't dirty my ring!!
