but I was just on BHB and there was a post about showing e-rings and I love seeing everyones rings
However, the post promted this question for you: do you think it is necessary to let other people know how big your stone is and/or are you insulted/annoyed when people in 'real life' ask you the size??? I think it is a very obnoxious question. Who gives a crap how big it is??
Sorry JMO and Im tired of people doing it to me and to my friends.

OMG--That drives me clear up the wall! First of all don't touch me, second of all don't dirty my ring!!
I really don't get that- and I am so happy my finger is a size 4.5 - so no one can try my ring on! but people still ask-

I only let my close friends try it on. I am a size 5 1/2 so mine doesn't fit anyone either!

Re: Not being rude....
Mike asked me to marry him last year after 7 years of dating and he could not afford to get me the ring that he wanted to give me. Now that our financial situation has changed, I think that the ring is coming Nov.1 (our 8th year anniversary). But whats more important to me and to him is that he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him and to him- that I accepted his proposal without a ring.
Yes people make faces when they ask me when Im getting married and where is my ring (which I think is so extremely obnoxious) and I tell them when Im getting married and that the ring will eventually come, but in my eyes they can all go scratch their a$$es...some of them are divorced and some of them wear these huge tacky stones and are unhappily married...I wish I could ask them if their ring sizes really assess the quality of their relationship...

Oh and Jessica...I think your ring is beautiful! Its only here in the US where the size of a diamond matters (people obviously dont have lives and just follow the lives of others (celebrities)). In Europe a woman would DIE for a ring like yours...

Ill be honest, nobody ever asked how big it is but they say stupid things like 'Its about a carat.' They are way off but I just nod and smile. Everyone is a gemologist I guess. Dopes I tell you.

it actually doesn't bother me if people ask. i wouldn't force that info on them.
i actually don't mind that other post, and I don't think the girls meant anything by saying how big their ring was. they were either going with the format or just giving the info. it doesn't really bother me at all.

I was actually attacked on thse boards for planning my wedding without one (by an ignorant fool as you can imagine) but at the end of the day I go home to my fh who I've already spent close to 11 years with....
to all the haters....Come, get some!

i wasnt referring to that other post - im referring to people who like to throw it in your face when you are talking to them or if you ask to see the ring.

do you think it is necessary to let other people know how big your stone is? NO Are you insulted/annoyed when people in 'real life' ask you the size??? YES
As I was leaving for lunch I was thinking that it was tacky how people were posting the size of their rings-I mean why not just post what he paid for it? I posted my picture, but that is it. I was told and always thought it was not proper to do that. I don't know.
I agree with this statement 100% . I can care less how big a stone is. This never happened on this board. This is yet another reason why 06rs ROCK! (no pun intended )

OMG, thank you for posting this. I probably would have gotten ripped if I said something....
It's like saying 'my fiance loves me more than you because I have a 20 carat ring and yours is only one carat. I thought it was obnoxious as well ( I still answered the post though). I am proud of my one carat

Yeah, I know what you are talking about - I agree, rude.
But I just don't think the girls who answered that other post meant anything bad by saying how big it was. JMHO

thanks
I answered it- I didn't even think about it being rude
we tell each other prices all the time for DJ's, per person etc- so ring size, didn't seem like a big deal for me
I wouldn't share that with most people- most guests at my wedding will have no idea what it cost
but you girls could figure it out

Re: Not being rude....
It bothers me when people ask me the size of the stones, it's none of their business and as many of you already stated, it really doesn't matter. But, if you think that's rude, here's a good one for ya: we were just engaged and some loser at work says 'oh, what a beautiful ring, you should get it appraised though cause a good cubic can fool anyone'. Stupidity, pure stupidity!

Re: Not being rude....
I don't like the posts where people put the sizes of their rings. Notice how no one ever puts anything under a carat, even though there are plenty of girls out there with smaller diamonds. A post like that makes these girls, and their FH's, feel bad.
