Not happy

I think my shower is this weekend and I have a feeling that I'm going to be very disappointed. I don't know half of the women my mom invited. I don't have a dress to wear yet. And to top it all off, not much has moved from my registry. There is still tons of stuff there, especially my bedding, which I was really looking forward to getting.

I know it's not all about the gifts, but I really don't know these ladies. I would be so much happier with a shower of 25 women I know and care about instead of almost 100 and half of them strangers.

Is there a way to get out of going to your own shower?

Dont set yourself up for disappointment yet. You will have a great time and having the right dress or not doesnt matter.
You're getting married and this is a 'shower' to welcome you to married life. If they are there for whatever reason its because of you. This is what women do for other women. Convince yourself you will have a good time and you will.

And people dont always give the registry paper to the check out to scan. so you never know gift cards work too you can change your mind if you want

Third, if I was invited to a shower, I sometimes don't buy the gift until the day before.
Fourth, I'm sure you'll get gift cards, so you can buy the bedding with those if need be.

I know it blows to have a bazillion people you don't know at your shower, but if your mom was doing it then maybe just take a deep breath and let her have this. Maybe it means a lot to her to show you off to her friends and that's what she is thinking.

If you really want out of it, you could always come to my Saturday class and then help me with the rest of DIY invites.

Yes! At least 8-10 things were bought the last 2 days before my shower.

I can't stop stalking! I just watching and hope for that mixer (I've wanted it for over 10 years).

I kinda know my shower is this weekend because one of my co-workers let it slip.

I just really want to find a nice dress because my mother will flip if I walk in there in my jeans.

I'll come help you with invites though! It might help make me more crafty!

You said you think its this weekend.... you really dont know when it is..... plus as far as the gifts go people sometimes wait until afew days before to get the gift.......

Thank you. I took it while I was in college, so it's about 3-4 years old.

I wouldn't get too upset Most people wait unitl the last possible minute to buy, unless they are 100% certain of an item they want for you off your registry. I'm sure you will do fine, even around the people you aren't close to because EVERYONE is there to celebrate YOU

I know what you mean about the smaller shower being more intimate and personal. but remember people went to a lot of trouble to lpan it for you and are doing their best to make it special. So if it is this weekend,when you get there, take a big deep breath and smile and enjoy it.

LOLOLOL!! Noooo....You'll be happy when you went!!! You never know..the registry could be wrong..and even if you dont get the bedding, you could always purchase it after the wedding!! You know you had fun with the little scanner thingy!!!

Well first- get to the mall & find a fantastic dress- that will make you feel 100x better and then try and relax- you will have a great time & even though it may not be exactly what you wanted- just remember that your mom & bms cared so much for you that they put together the shower for you & just enjoy it!

Aww don't be so bummed. It might actually tun out to be great. Alot of people forget to take stuff off the registry. I found out my mom got my bedding b/c I was whining this past weekend that nobody bought it and she goes ..... 'what? They were supposed to take that off!'...and then she looked at me like WOOPS! HAHA.

Also, what type of dress are you looking for?? I got the most adorable dress from Ralph Lauren. Give us an idea and we'll help.

my registry stopped moving towards the end also... i was more than happy with the people that showed up I hope it turns out just as nice for you.. the people that didnt purchase gifts off the registry were overly generous with money (not that I was looking for it) it helped out a lot with some items I didnt receive-
