NOT having an engagement party?

Are there any couples out there NOT having an engagement party?! I feel like I'm the only one not having one. At first I was ok with it, but now I'm feeling bad. FH doesn't think it's fair to expect people to give a gift for this, then a shower, then a wedding. I was fine with that, but now I'm disappointed. Am I the only one not having a party?

No engagement party here either. Every family gathering has turned into an informal engagement event though! We still have gotten gifts even without the party. Some people just want to give you stuff! LOL
