I'm sure some of us have used a few vendors that are not very well known or highly advertised but are just as good, and sometimes even better as the highly advertised vendors we get in the mail EVERY day or see at all the bridal expos.
So please list any vendors like such here and maybe follow it with an experience or explain a little bit about them about what makes them so great. I know I could go into the review section, but this is different then just a review. I think this could help many of us.
List any types of vendors...DJ's, Florists, photographers, videographers, DOC's, caligraphers, jewelry designers, Hair Stylists, Makeup Artists, Limos, etc. TIA

Re: Not very advertised vendors...
We got our invitations from Classic Invitations and Favors in Selden. They were great.
Our photographer is awesome as well. He is a LIW vendor but you don't hear about him much. He is Michael from North Island Photography.
Parties Alive is our DJ and he is a LIW vendor but you also don't hear a lot about him either.

i used 'all my heart' in port jefferson for my invites and calligraphy. i LOVED them. their prices and selection seemed to be comparable to anywhere else, and i just found the customer service to be outstanding. they were sweet, HELPFUL & PATIENT. which is what any bride needs
I used them for our STD's and engagement announcements... they were great!

Re: Not very advertised vendors...
Ultimate Sound Dj's Mia from ************* Pink Monkey Events US Limos
Only a very small number of my vendors were LIW vendors.
My favorite vendor, by far, was my photographer. In fact, I think I am the only LIW gal that has actually used him. He is phenomal - Roberto Falck.
Also SewDeb for my veil, who other LIW brides have used, but I don't think is a vendor. Real silk veil custom-made for me for a great price.
My invites were Carlson Craft from writeevent.com website. Great service.
I found an officiant, Fr. Bernard, via rentapriest.com. I never heard of the site, but it's a great resource.

Re: Not very advertised vendors...
I love all of my vendors- they are not talked about on here often, but they are so wonderful to work with!
Denisimo photography is outrageous! His pictures are amazing, and his pricing is really affordable! Fran and Lou from Classic Video are also incredibly sweet, and they are such a pleasure to work with, they make me feel so comfortable. Also, Steve from Then Til Now DJ is also really affordable and his demos are awesome!
I feel so lucky to have such wonderful people who will be at my wedding!

Re: Not very advertised vendors...
Absolute Entertainment, was our DJ Group. Kevin was our MC...fantasic!!!! Best decision as far as a vendor. I recommed them to everyone. They are a vendor on LIW's but I don't think they get the recoginition they deserve. Kevin was awesome to talk to, he totally made our reception enviroment awesome. They even have a videographer they use...kicking myself now for not using their videographer (grrrr).

Re: Not very advertised vendors...
I know this is an older thread, but:
Platinum (www.platinumbandmusic.com) - An insanely talented band, extremely professional, reasonably priced (10K for a 9-piece band for the 4 hour reception + 2 musicians at the CH)
Bonaventure (for tuxes) - Sometimes mentioned, but by no means popular. My brothers had great experieces there. The groom and my dad got their tuxes for free, everything fit correctly, and the service was great.

Most of my vendors don't advertise on liweddings but of them my favorite is Soul Revival, our band. They were totally different than any other bands we saw. They are young, and so nice to work with. They are also playing all our requests and answer all of my many question (which are a ton trust me ). I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great band!! Soul Revival website

Re: Not very advertised vendors...
I used April from Creative Hair designs for my wedding. She is a vendor on this site and really does phenomenal work.
I used Signature Florist in Bellmore. I absolutely LOVED all of my flowers and would recommend them in a heartbeat. The prices were so reasonable and the end product was superb.
Flowerama Tuxedo in Queens (we booked at the one in Ridgewood) was very good. DH has used them twice and had no complaints.
im using ken and evas flower cottage dj- xtreme sounds- wait they are a vendor hgere

Re: Not very advertised vendors...
Well my wedding hasn't happened yet but I have a few vendors that I am using that are not popular on the boards.
Our band: MGM is amazing. The are very popular with Italian American's and FH & I've seen them at several weddings. We knew we wanted them even before we new the date and RH.
Photog: Camelot Studios..not popular on here but Rocco's work is incredible. We LOVE our e-pics and he is wonderful to work with. I know we will be very happy with our wedding pics/album.
Video: Pennlylane Productions: Adam is a vendor on here but I don't see too many brides that have used him. His work is edgy and unique which is more FH & my style. Not a fan of the baby montage style.
Hair-M/up Patty & Louisa Agate: They are super sweet and do great work.
My DOC, RH and Florist are pretty popular vendors on the boards.
