So I'm getting married in the Garden Room at the Westbury Manor. I know the room comfortably holds around 130 and after making our guest list we're at about 165. People say that around 15% won't come? But I'm nervous to invite too many people. In your experience what is safe number of invites if we can only hold 130, 140 absolute max?

Re: Number of people to invite???
you can send your invitations out in installments. That way, as people RSVP no, you can send out more invitations. That way you'll be sure not to be over your max.

Re: Number of people to invite???
i think you know your list best. out of the list of 165 who do you know will say no??? (could be your great aunt that your mom said you have to invite or she will be pissed at the family)
if you are sure everyone on that list of 165 will attend then if the room holds 130 comfortably you should invite 145.

Re: Number of people to invite???
ITA with the idea of installments.. Just an FYI-- Through friends who have been getting married in recent months, I have heard and also read on these boards that there rsvp numbers are lower then expected, most likely do to tough economic times... I have had friends have to pay for 150 peoplebc that was their guarantee even though only 130 people actually came-- This friend had invited over 200 people.. So installments is the best way to gauge it-- just try not to make it obvious that people are on a 'B' List-- send out the invitations to the B listers as soon as possible after you get replies in from your first batch .. and then blame it on the mail if it ever comes up =)
Good Luck!!! I think you will be fine

Can you try to guess which people wont come? Then maybe you can estimate from there..

Re: Number of people to invite???
I think I may do the A and B list. Send out invitations early enough and if we get enough no's then send out some more. It's annoying because a majority of these people are my fiancee's parent's friends. They have almost twice as many people as my family and I dont want to hurt anyone's feelings but the line has to be drawn somewhere. We had to cut out some friends to make room for his mother's best friend from high school?! i mean c'mon!
