I am currently looking for a photographer and I am getting all sorts of different numbers when I ask about how many pictures they will take the day of my wedding. Some say 300-600, some say 500-1000, one even told me I'd get 2000. I am only have one photographer and I expect to have 9 hours of coverage, with some pics of me getting ready in there.
What's the 'Standard'? Is there one? And how true is it when a photographer tells me that it's ok if I only get 300 pictures because it's the quality of the shots that matter, not the quantity???

I feel like ive heard 1 photog should get you somewhere between 600-900 shots. 300 sounds very low....

u prob dont want 1000 proofs...they more than likely will pick out the bad shots that is why the proof count is lower.

ditto. most photogs low-ball their initial number so you won't be dissapointed. I've seen cases where a photog guarantees 800 and the couple ends up with 1500.

300 sounds very low. Ours said we can have over 1000 photo's depending on the shots. But most likley more then 800

it also depends on the quality of shoots...think about it would you want 1500 proofs but 600 of them are really not good...even the best photographer does not take all pictures great...

My minimum is 400 proofs and I have 2 photographers, but my photog is photojournalistic and he photoshops/color corrects everything, so I don't know if that's why. I also get more proofs a certain amount of time after the wedding, can't remember how many, but I assume its to allow him the time to digitally alter that many photos.

I've been told they take x amount of shots - but you get y amount of proofs - due to some pics just not looking good etc.

We're guaranteed 800 proofs, with two photogs. But, he said that's the minimum, and he said he generally winds up with closer to 1200... we get all the printed proofs, as well as all the shots that are taken on JPEG and DVD...that way, we can make our album when we want, with as many pictures as we want, and we don't really have to choose...

300 is definitely low, from what i've heard. my photog said anywhere from 500-800 really good shots. anymore and i'd be really confused with what pics to choose!

One photography studio i met with guaranteed 350 shots for proofs, but said we'd probably end up with 500-700...it's just a way to cover their butts in case you blink in half the photos and they're no good.
