As a very 'conservative' person, I do want to let you know, she doesn't speak for ALL of 'us'. I tend to dislike her for the same reasons I dislike Al Franken, Janine Garafolo, et all. There is room for political disagreement without personal attacks or flagrant 'headline grabbers.'

I am very conservative and don't always agree with her. She says things to stir things up. As someone else on here said she's the Al Franken of the Conservatives.

She says outrageous things to spark attention ... well she has definitely done that!

She has done exactly what she set out to do - otherwise there wouldn't be this post.

Ann Coulter is a truly despicable person, and rarely says *anything* of actual value. I highly doubt that any of those women asked for this, or could possibly be enjoying this.

I think what she's said is disrepsectful to not only the widows, but the parents/children/siblings/friends/neighbors/co-workers/employers/RESIDENTS OF NY, NJ, and CT who were affected by this tragedy.

And I can't see how that would sell more books to anyone of any level of dignity or intelligence.

I read the article in today's Newsday newspaper and I have to say I was sickened with her. There were actually people in Huntington that supported her views in this book that Newsday interviewed. It was horrible. I didn't lose anyone personally in 9/11, but so many of us know people who were affected and this was a region that was HIGHLY affected by the attack. Why invite her to this area to make these attacks against women and families who have lost so much.

At the end of the article, there was also a statement made that I forgot about until recently - this is the same woman who stated that the Jewish people were responsible for the Holocaust!!!

To me, it's nonsense and she doesn't deserve to get all this press. She may be conservative, but she takes her views way to extreme for the majority of public opinion to want to follow - and in the mean time, she alienates some of her own followers.

'These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by the grief-arazzis,' she wrote. 'I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much.'

She adds, 'And, by the way, how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies?'

I'm sorry, but those comments (especially the last one) are WAY out of line.

She thinks these wives are trying to 'cash in' because of a tragedy...guess what? She is doing the exact same thing. Using the 9/11 tragedy to sell copies of her book.

I have to say... I usually REALLY like Ann Coulter and usually agree with her and have only heard accounts of what she allegedly said... I have to get more information and read the book before I can comment. I really hope she didn't say what I heard she said second hand on the radio this morning (can't believe everything you hear or read these days). I can't believe she would have said what she said as a general statement about ALL the 911 victims wives.

i agree and i usually like her too along w/ bill o'reilly (he has her on the factor sometimes) b/c they give a fresh breath of reality-- i try to watch fox news b/c the other news channels are SO one sided you can never believe what you are hearing and they only present one side of the story instead of giving you all the facts and allowing you to make up your own mind. that's why i'm unsure about this-- b/c the media loves to take things out of context or manipulate the truth. so until i hear the whole deal and try to understand what facts made her feel this way and WHY she feels this way and get all the sides of it, then i'll make my decision. until then though, from what i read so far, i do feel she went over-board and let her emotions get the best of her. i'll have to check this out on o'reilly tho-- the spin stops here! lol

yes, she does tend to go too far a lot-- there is the extreme left, the extreme right and then there is the middle-- and a lot of conservatives sit where they want but not all of them are as extreme as she is, inlcluding myself. i'm as conservative as they come but not like THAT (what i saw so far, i'm giving the benefit of the doubt to be fair)-- but yikes!

yeah, unfortunately i think you are right... but this is, i believe, what they are after.

From what I have read, Ann Coulter's comments are out of line.

I do not think these women are cashing in on their husband's misfortunes, they are grieving. People deal with grief of this nature in different ways, one way I've seen to be prevalent is with keeping busy (which they definitely are doing).

I do get annoyed though that a lot of people view these four women to be the voice of all of the 9/11 widows/widowers, which is not the case.

I heard these comments, too. I am NOT defending her comments. I just want to point out, since the above is not in context, that she is referring to FOUR women from NJ who are using the events of 9-11 to make political statements about non-9-11 issues. They are taking their moment in the spotlight and exploiting it. I agree with the PREMISE of what she means, but NOT the way in which she stated them. Her wording is WAY out of line and I don't think these women in any way ENJOY the fact that that their husbands and the fathers of their children were killed by terrorists who hate America... those poor men. But I don't think that the wives are memorializing their husbands' deaths in a good way by politicizing their deaths and capitalizing off of it, which I think is why Ann Coulter (who I think is a strong woman who obviously speaks her mind) is so upset - and what upsets me as well. I would NOT have worded it as HARSHLY and INSENSITIVELY as she did... that was all just uncalled for. But, on the other side, Michael Moore has said and done even worse against the men currently fighting for our freedom even to say all this...

As for the LEGALITIES for Moore and Coulter to say all this... I'm sure the courts will take care of this.

I really hate that this was even brought into this chat room... I love coming here to talk WEDDINGS and nothing but weddings. All this other stuff just gives me a headache!!

I have too, and each sement that she's been on; the actual reporters interviewing her have this look on there face like'if I weren't on tv, I would kill her'

When I watched her segment yesterday morning on fox morning news i was so turned off at how she was comming off I had to change the channel.

The only sad thing though, is it's her opinion,and all though there may be only a few out there like her, there are people like that.
