I have been on Ortho Tri-Cyclin Lo for like 6 1/2 years and i think i want to switch bc lately my sex drive has been lower.
my dr. suggested 2 options.
1. going off the pill and using condoms - this scares me bc i don't wanna risk getting preggers before the wedding
2. Switching to Yaz or Alesse
so since #1 is not an option for me right now....I am trying to decide between Yaz or Alesse. Does anyone have any experiences with these bc pills?

Re: NWR: BC Question (sorry if TMI)
I take YAZ. My periods are super light and I'm less tempermental during that wonderful time.

I am on Loestrin 24 and I haven't had any real side effects, but I have been spotting. This is my first month tho, but other than that I like it

unfortunately you really can't rely on anyone elses experience when it comes to BCP because what is good for one isn't good for another. I would see which is cheaper and try that one first.

thanks girls. i am just nervous bc other than the sex drive issue I dont have any other side effects from ortho and im nervous if I change pills I may.
alesse is cheaper but i have heard more about yaz. I guess I can just give each alesse a try and if it doesnt work out switch to yaz.

Definitely! I have this same problem (low sex drive) and I asked my Gyno about Yaz and when she tried it, she didn't get a period a few times and the same happened with a lot of her patients. She then said, that isn't a bad thing, BUT you'll probably get a lot of anxiety because you might think you're pregnant.
I decided to stick with Yasmin and when I went to the pharmacy, I asked the [female] pharmacist about Yaz too. She said that it's ALMOST the same as Yasmin, but it has 0.2 estrogen rather than Yasmin's 0.3. She also said that doesn't make much of a difference, the main thing about Yaz is that it was made when Yasmin lost its patent and made a generic version (YAY! about that!).
Try the cheaper one and see where that goes. Keep us posted!

I'm on Yaz and my periods are short and light but I have the sam problem you do. Try Alesse first...

ITA that BC affects everyone differently...I had a HORRIBLE experience with Loestrin 24 and Yaz made me depressed...however higher sex drive, go figure.
If your only going on temporarily, Yaz may not be that bad. I wish I had better experiences with BP

i used to take alesse... it has a generic so its a lot cheaper then Yaz. I didnt have any problems with it - i stopped getting my periods after a few years though so my doc changed me to the one im on now....
