NWR- Car Leasing Prices??

NWR- Car Leasing Prices??

Just trying to do some research to get an idea on monthly costs- trying to figure out what we can spend on a home. I have not had a car in like 9 years, but if we get a house, we'll need TWO-- I tend not to read the auto section in NYC..

i used to lease all the time but it was the very basic models. we would just put down what was needed for registration and the taxes and that jazz. it was nice to have a new car every 3 years but now that i have my liberty it's all mine and i love it!! good luck!

we just did this whole thing... granted, we're in north carolina, so prices may be different...

we wanted to own a small, reliable, fuel-efficient car, and to lease an suv that drives like a car but has a lot of extra space.

so....

we put $4000 down
we bought a honda civic ex special edition (financed over 72 months), and leased the honda crv 2 wheel drive for 48 months (12,000 miles a year). our payments are coming out to just over $600 a month.

insurance is $105 a month for both cars. that's where you may get killed in new york... insurance is much more there...

I think it all depends on the car you want to get. We wanted the Nissan 350Z convertable (which cost the same as our Jeeps--Grand Cherokees--fully loaded, heated leather seats, sunroof, towing package, power everything, etc.....)---but the lease package for the Jeeps were $314/ month for 3 years and the package for the 350Z was $600/month for 3 years.

We ended up getting 2 Jeeps (although we only wanted one plus the sports car) b/c the 'lease' of the 350z was ridiculous for our budget. BUT, the both cost THE SAME in the end....roughly $36K

So, it really depends on the car you're looking at and the deals occurring at the point in time.

I think we would look for something practical-- like a Subaru Outback-- then we'd also buy my mom's Volvo from her- so, we'd only have to lease one car.

I am so clueless when it comes to this stuff- but we are tyring to figure out a monthly budget so that we can figure out how much we can spend on a house.

Also keep in mind that if you go when the new cars are coming out for 06 you can get a great deal probably on an 05 since they want to clear their inventory. Thats what I usually do.

I think my friend is paying around 250 for a volkswagon beetle lease, and my other friend leased a toyota solara for about 325. I kind of think they are both paying alot. I bought my car for about the same amount per month. I got it not even 2 years ago, doubled up on the payments - and I'm done with paying in mid may

I am financing my Toyota Corolla for about 300 a month for 60 months. I am paying 350 a month hoping that it will cut at least 6 months off the financing term!

Re: NWR- Car Leasing Prices??

I am finishing a lease right now and personally, I wouldn't do it again but that's just me.

Also, please don't forget your insurance. You need a more comprehensive policy for a leased car (glass coverage, etc.).

I just went from a 2002 Jaguar X-Type ($460) for a 36 month lease, 12,000 miles a year (miraculously I'm under). I never planned on buying the car (there have been more problems than I can count).

My car insurance for the Jaguar was $2K a year on an umbrella policy (homeowners, life). I just bought a Toyota Camry (didn't finance) and moved to Suffolk where insurance is actually higher (my agent told me this) and my payment for the new car under a married policy will be $900. A $1,100 savings in insurance.

Oh, and my gas mileage increased tremendously. I went from getting 21 mpg highway to over 30 mpg highway. I picked up the car last week with a full tank of gas have out over 150 miles on it and still have about 3/4 of a tank So I estimate I'll be saving over $100 bucks a month in gas.

Total savings from getting new car from just insurance and gas mileage alone... $2,300 a year

So just consider insurance and gas mileage into your purchase.
