NWR: Doctor Recommendations

Hi All,

This is a bit personal but for the sake of needing a really good doctor, i need all of your help.

I need to have something called a LEEP procedure (the removal of pre-cancerous tissue from your cervix) and I am looking for a doctor who is really good at doing this, because it can potentially affect your abilities to get pregnant and carry a baby through pregnancy. I will travel to Nassau but it would be best if i could find someone in Suffolk.

I am most interested in recommendations from people who have had this procedure or similar, and can say that the doctor was great in doing so. I have never had stitches, a broken bone or any surgeries, i have never been to the hospital (only visiting). This procedure is really stressing me out, and while some doctors will do it in their office with local anesthetic, a bad past experience when diagnosing this has made me CERTAIN that i want to have it done in a hospital with anesthesia.

Can anyone recommend a good OB GYN who does this? Most of them do this procedure anyway but i'd really like someone with good bedside manner and lots of experience.

Thanks ladies.

NWR: Doctor Recommendations

I dont have experience with this but the office I go to is University Associates in OBGYN on Technology Dr in Setauket and they are REALLY great there. I would call them and see if they have experience with this. The doctors there are really patient and they acutally LISTEN to you and care about your wants/needs. Good luck with your procedure. Hope this helps!

How is there wait time? I can't stand my place any more. I wait hours for a 15 office visit!

Its not bad. They have OB and GYN in the same 'office' so it looks like theres a ton of people but theyre all seeing different docs. Usually 15-20 mins at MOST on a busy day. My doc is actually a NP and her hubby is the OB in the office. Shes really great. Her name is Jennifer Griffin.

Thanks girl!

I actually talked to one of my co-workers about it today and it turns out she had the same procedure a few years ago and she HIGHLY recommends her doctor... so if anyone else is looking for a new one, check out Dr. Athanasios Antoniadis in West Islip. He delivers babies too which was a big thing for me because the guy i've been going to doesn't and i want the person who does the procedure to be able to be my OB when i get pregnant in the future in case there are any problems.

Re: NWR: Doctor Recommendations

I had this procedure. My OB GYN is Dr. Blasyck his practice is in Stony Brook off of 347. I switched to him after several recommendations from family and friends. He shares a practice with Dr. Arato but I highly recommend seeing Blasyck, NOT Arato. I had this exact procedure and he was very helpful, calming, and informative through the entire thing. My cousin also goes to him - she had a different issue and had a few procedures done with him as well. she since has had 2 children with no complications. He is really great I highly recommend him!!
