So since FH & I are buying a home, I know he wants a dog more than anything, so I thought for his birthday I would surprise him. Therefore, I need to start looking into breeders.
Here's my question, we both wanted a big dog like a yellow lab, but I'm thinking since we are buying a small home with a small backyard, I think a medium size dog would be better. Can you suggest some breeds?? FH hates small dogs so something about 50-70 pounds would be ideal.

A Sheeba-Enu (spelling). Well my FH has two and an Akita, but the sheeba's are so cute. Except the male is always ready for action if you know what I mean. But they are cute dogs. I think they are a Japanese Breed, and are considered a Snow Dog. They actually look like Fox's.

Re: NWR: Dog Suggestions
i grew up with a pure bred siberian husky. it had crystal blue eyes (danielle like). i loved him. those dogs are beautiful
i am a fan of Chow Chows, Akitas, Newfounlands, Samyoeds, and American Eskimos
there are far too many dogs that i dont like, but basically any kind of lap dog i will pass on. and my best friend got a boxer about a year ago... and i can do without that thing

labs are great dogs.. our puppy is a 10month old black lab/rottwieler mix..but she looks all lab...id definitely go with a black lab.. yellow labs are the biggest of the lab breed..right now our dog is 70 pounds... ill post pictures if you want to see them.

Re: NWR: Dog Suggestions
English labs are built considerably shorter than american labs. also, if you get the runt of the litter and get a female they will be smaller than the others.
