Hmm... so here's what I think:

1) He's said crap like this for ages, so it's kind of a surprise he finally got fired.

2) what he says is nothing compared to what some of the conservative pundits say on the radio and tv ALL THE TIME. (Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Rush, etc).

3) It's a great way to distract the country from all the crap the gov't is doing wrong.

I think he totally should have been fired. I also think that other people that use that type of language on public television news should be fired or banned. Its degrading and gross. I am by no means a 'sensitive' person but i think alot of people dont understand that comments like these have really bad consequences to all of us, particularly women, on an individual basis also even though many may not think that since it wasnt 'directly' aimed at us personally. I can write a novel on here about all of the consequences i face and all of you face everyday because of this type of launguage and behavior.

p.s.- i think howard stern should be locked in a small, dark, muggy dungeoun and have the key thrown out b/c he is one of the influencing factors of our society and children being twisted and sick individuals

I AGREE about the Howard Stern Comments- A GROSS PIG !!

As for Imus-- hmmm...
not fired, but a harsh punishment

I guess, I just hear and read so much of that stuff.....
sooooooooo many people would be fired?...

but not sure how we will EVER not have that prejudice- its better..... than it WAS
but people are still cruel

i think that it is a big joke that they waited till after he did his radiothon and raised millions of dollars for the Station that they will take credit for.

let him meet with the young ladies of Rutgers and then progress from there... no need to be hasty when he may have been crude in the past but has never been suspended before

heheheh, ah how we think alike.

Of course what he said was amazingly disrespectful and racist, but then again, coming from him, it's not exactly shocking. He's been spewing racist /sexist stuff like this for decades, it's just that normally, it's directed at a celebrity or politician, who aren't as innocent as students.... but it's not like the celebrities deserve it any more than they do!

I'm actually rather PO'ed about the CONSTANT news coverage of this. Ya know, there was a terrorist attack in algeria earlier this week... Did you know that? If you did, you obviously don't depend on US cable news for your information, becuase ALL THEY DO IS DISCUSS IMUS!!!
before that it was anna nicole, OJ, duke lacross, natalie halliway....

They've reduced news to the lowest common denominator... to a level that should be restricted to E! entertainment.... they're rotting the brains of all Americans!!!

I definately think he should be criticized for his actions, completely disrespectful and totally out of line. I do agree with you stealth groom- they are making a huge deal out of this to make us not think about the other nonsense that goes on!

Miss Jonesy and the morning show did something really similar when they played that song mocking the tsunami and were laughing about it-- they did not get fired. Howard Stern constantly crosses the line and never got fired. Why make the example now? What is good for the goose is good for the gander!

FREE IMUS!!!!!!

Re: NWR- Don Imus??

this is a hard situation.

I believe everyone has a right to free speech but with that free speech there are lines. Some of which you don't cross. What he said was horrible and should get punished, I don't think fired. Maybe 6 months to a year off work or something. He is a man that has been doing his job for 40 years. He does good things but all the good things no one remembers when you screw up. Its hard because I feel like here is a man that screwed up and there are other people out there like the KKK and black panter that talk about this stuff all the time and actually have rallies.

I agree totally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are bigger issues in this country than Imus.
This is not his first time, and he's old anyway...isn't it time to put him out of his misery....I mean when a person commits the same crime 'repeat offender' don't we punish them? Then why can't the same be done for him...
Compared to the other issues at hand like other radio and TV hosts/guests speaking on: immigration and terrorism, or Biligualism being 'ghetto language' or businesses naming furniture...'N***ER brown'.....his comments are nothing. (Yes they are, but not more or less important than these)

What ever happened to Free Speech?

I don't agree with what he has said, but where do you draw the line?

Re: NWR- Don Imus??

Yes...what he said was not PC, not nice, not racially correct...but it is nothing new. Seriously.

I think firing him was a bit severe, but its not my call.

There are worse people out there who say worse things.(again I don't condone what he said)

My thoughts: I think they should lock up Howard Stern, Don Imus, and Al Sharpton and let them have a kumbaya session.(feel free to add your own radical idiot)
