Where did you hear that?

I see the station changed their apology on their website. I say keep Hot 97 in hot water. Yippee!!! Keep it up ladies, our voices are being heard. One by one we can remove these fools off the air, or at least let them know their is a certain level of
'entertainment' and if crossed it will not be tolerated!!!

I was shocked but I am not at all surprised..especially when you have someone like howard sern on the air who degrades anything he comes into contact with..it kinda shows the kind of people living in our society and I wouldnt bat a tear if she got suspended or fired..time for actions to have consequences.

UPDATE!

Miss Jones and the Morning show has been suspended indefinitely.

As of today, several key advertisers have pulled their sponsorship dollars from the show, including Sprint and Mc Donalds.

Hot97.com has an official statement about this.

Her apology is crap. She is not sorry at all. Miss Jones played that song for 4 days -- whenever any one called in to complain. She is sorry she provoked the listeners enough to write, call and e-mail enough higher ups to get her and her Morning Show members suspended.

She is also the one behind the Smackfest - they have listeners comes from all over to slap each other for money. I guess they sign waivers or something - sanctioned assault/battery?

one smackfest program

She will probably be on 105.1 or 98.7 by the end of the week.

I sent Mcdonalds an email telling them about my concerns with their affilation/sponsership with Hot97: Here is an email from them I got today...

Thank you for taking the time contact McDonald's. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to you regarding the recent events involving hosts from the Hot 97 morning radio program in New York.First, McDonald's does not support programs that discriminate or are insensitive to the plight of people suffering from devastating events. Starting immediately, McDonald's will indefinitely suspend advertising on the Hot 97 morning show. It's also important to know that Ronald McDonald House Charities, McDonald's Corporation and the McDonald's family around the world have donated more than two million dollars to the Tsunami relief efforts. We take these matters very seriously and will continue to work together to help victims of this devastating disaster.Again, thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

Honestly, I think it was dumb, but not worth the energy to get people fired. There is free speech in this country, and while I don't approve of what the song states, I don't think it's right for people to get fired for playing a song, no matter how insensitive it was.
