Re: NWR-Looking for a puppy!
yeah i have heard bad stories about pet stores as well....a lot of them over crowd their stores and sell those dogs for way too much $$. there are some good breeders in upstate NY who you can get a dog for less money, and you can see their parents and whatnot.

Re: NWR-Looking for a puppy!
I got my baby girl from a yorkie breeder in Long Island. Her name is Marie and her number is 1-516-481-5153. Her website is www.celticirishpuppies.com.. I HIGHLY reccomend her 1,000 %!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was reccomended to me by someone and and few people I know went there as well. The lady's son breeds the puppies in Ireland and then sends them to the US to his mom. Take a peek at the website. Let me know if you use her :) I hope you do you will be sooooooooo happy.

Nicole, I was just thinking last night that when FH and I get a dog it's going to be a rescue dog - this is even better! Thank you!

Yay for rescues!
My pug Harvey is one! Here is a site for yorkie rescue if youre interested!
ok we have 2 cairn terriers their names are ozzy and rosco when i get home i will post pics im not on my computer. anyway we heard that yuppy puppy down in port jeff got new owners. so we went there and got rosco. we havew had no problems there and the vet says still to this day that he is healthy as can be. we walked in there and the place cleaned up really really nice and it doesnt have that awful stench of dog anymore. now theres ozzy we went to puppy depot and heard bad things about them but we were jusrt going to look not expecting to buy another dog. so we walked in right away the smell was unbarable and the cages were nasty. so we saw a cairn for 99 dollars and i asked why so cheap cause we payed alot ofr rosco but they said it was cause of his age so they also told us that he has been living the kennel life for like 5 months. he looked a mess and was not happy there. so we took him and brought him home he was a very scared. it took him like 2 weeks to come out of his shell. we broguht him to the vet and he said he was healty as can be. so we have had no problems to this day. now we cant seperate the 2 of them they just love each other way too much

Re: NWR-Looking for a puppy!
Sometimes I walk past a pet store and it makes me feel so sad and so motherly - like, I want to buy them all and save them. But I know it's so wrong to give money to pet stores and perpetuate the business of puppymills. So occasionally I'll walk in and play with a puppy, just long enough to break my heart real good, and then leave.
I'm a real masochist, eh? Odd.

Re: NWR-Looking for a puppy!
We saved Cooper from a pet store... we didn't know we were saving him when we got him because we didn't know how sick he was... I'll reiterate what everyone is saying.... ADOPT!!!

My two dogs are half pomeranians and half shih tzus. We call them sh!t poos.
Anyway we've always adopted. If you don't mind a mutt North Shore Animal They do have puppies but my parents always wanted the adult dogs that no one wanted until we got these dogs from her friend at work. Apparently she couldn't keep her dogs away from each other!
