NWR: Need a new cardio routine.

I started working out a lot more this summer and have become really bored with my cardio routine. I usually do the precor or the treadmill. What do you suggest?

I loved kickboxing when I took it but my schedule jumps around a lot so I'd like something that isn't a scheduled class. Maybe I need a new program for the treadmill, like interval training.

That is the precor in my gym. I have exhausted every routine on there. I used to be fine to do 45 min of cardio, now I'm struggling with 15.

How bout running or rollerblading?
in the gym you can try maybe doing some kind of circuit training where u do each task for a few minutes then switch.. something to change it up a bit.

INTERVALS! It's easier mentally because you can look at like you only have to get through a few minutes at a time.

It is also better for burning calories. Interval training challenges your body differently, and keeps your metabolism higher than running at a constant pace. So you continue to burn calories after your workout is over.

You can also circuit with weights. Start with 30sec each machine, and pick 4 or 5 machines for a circuit, and include about a 1min sprint on any piece of cardio. That'l burn the same amount, probably more calories than straight cardio machines.

Good luck!

I have a pretty good weight routine going on, but I think it's a good idea to throw cardio in the middle instead of doing all weights, then all cardio.

I have the same problem! ... have you tried doing high inclines? I usually do 30 min. of the treadmill on an incline of 15 with a speed of 5, this way your sort of jogging ... this defiantly kicks my butt into shape!

That sounds like a good idea too. I really need to do something. I am working out now more than I have in 2 years and I am at my highest weight ever. I am also weight training so I know I won't drop a lot of weight but I would like to see a difference. I am going to the gym about 5 days a week and weight training on 1 or 2 body parts each time and doing 1/2 hour of cardio.

I used Netflix to get all different workout dvds.... I get one, have it for a while when I get bored I get another one.
My favorite so far is the Firm Bootcamp. it is an awesome workout and its really fun.

That's a great idea. I never thought of doing that.

I tried the intervals on the treadmill today. I was only on 4.2 and I was exhausted after a 1/2 hour!
