I forgot, the Stanton Social is GREAT. Great Tapas and music.

I live down the block and its FANTASTIC.!!!!!!!!!

I am obsessed with Stanton Social. Their sliders are yummy and the french fries!!
Love that area where you live. I'm all the way uptown but like to go shopping down there @ Foley and Corinna and then brunch at Essex!

yeah this place is great. food is really good too. that neighborhood is really coming along - my parents grew up there and it was the sleeziest back in the day. Schillors Liquor Bar in that area is also good for a meal.

Really? My aunt and uncle grew up there...my mom grew up in China town and they tell me all the time how they couldnt walk the streets alone. And how cars would pull up to them as if they were prosty's.

Schillors is kewl., Do you know that new place Rayuela that opened on Allen. its spanish food yumm

ALOT of the downtown area used to be pretty sketchy ...but honestly YEARS AGO manhattan wasnt what it was...even my friend who was born and raised on the upper east side and her family has lived there from way before that said that its crazy how expensive the city is now and that ppl wouldnt have thought that a long time ago...a few decades ago the dream was to live in the suburbs thats what ppl with money did. So even in like the 60's and 70's alot of the city wasnt what it is now. They say how it was hippies, artists, there was even one big section on the upper west side was known for an area where alot of single mothers moved to so they can afford housing.

.

My mom and dad and sister lived on East 12th and 1st avenue for $50/ week about 30-35 years ago OMG i know!!!!!!!!

The lower east side.....was hippies and artists.....and a lot of low income housing.....now with all of the changes the old community is very upset that its changing, all of the artists and people that have lived here for years are being driven out by the yuppie movement. They say its becoming another upper east side.

Now the Upper East side is home to lots of artists and indie rockers cause the rent is cheaper uptown than it is downtown! I live in the 70's and totally see indie rockers walking down the street. 10021 used to be the most affluent zip code and now it's Tribeca zipcode that's the most affluent

All the artsy people are on the UWS these days. I worked/live there. Bunch of musicians (right by Lincoln Center, etc) and artists.

Has a good family feel.

Yea the original owners in my building bought their apartment for a dollar per share. Everyone owns 250 so they bought their apt for $250.00

omg i wishhhhhhhhh. my aunt actually owns an apt in my buidling and she has a duplex and a backyard. she is an orginal owner.

I think we can fit a crib in the apt., so until the first kid can go to school thats the plan lol.
