Original post by Mikeysgirl

I need help from the 08 girls. Can anyone suggest a lounge in NY that serves food, has good music and isn't too expensive? Thanks!

I have been to the meatpacking district a couple of times, I just think its sooo grimy down there. The people make the places soooo EWWWWWW. Does anyone else notice this?

Wow. I hope people don't say that about me when they see me out in the MPD. You might not be going to the right places! I love it - it has so much more character than most places in NYC. Love the west village area - cobblestones, etc.

LOVE IT too, and yeah you have all mixes of ppl there, but alot of great places

I work in the MPD and its actually very trendy. I mean there are a few shady characters just like anywhere else but its pretty much a landmark. Why do you think its shady? Just curious. Cause, like any other club on the weekends, Its usually bridge and tunnel crowd. I knwo some people dont like that kind of crowd but its a very common crowd.

LOL bridge and tunnel, im laughing bc the night we went to Pri's party, joe and i went shopping and i was like 'oh didnt you want a cranberry button down' hes like NOOOO button down, i dont want to look like im bridge and tunnel, i was histerical. UHMMMM what do you think we are lol

i understand what he was saying about not wanting to look like the typical button down, spikey haired B&T kid, so when we go to manhattan he never dresses like that. Im just like hey these clubs wouldnt last if it werent for us b&t kids

ALOT of the downtown area used to be pretty sketchy ...but honestly YEARS AGO manhattan wasnt what it was...even my friend who was born and raised on the upper east side and her family has lived there from way before that said that its crazy how expensive the city is now and that ppl wouldnt have thought that a long time ago...a few decades ago the dream was to live in the suburbs thats what ppl with money did. So even in like the 60's and 70's alot of the city wasnt what it is now. They say how it was hippies, artists, there was even one big section on the upper west side was known for an area where alot of single mothers moved to so they can afford housing.

Schillers is heavy rotation for my meals. I love that place.
Definitely check out Essex. They have a 15 dollar brunch with 3 bloody or 3 mimosa's. Last time I was there Claire danes sat next to me. I guess she's into bargain brunches also! LOL. They also have a lobster night 15 dollar full lobster dinner.

My mom and dad and sister lived on East 12th and 1st avenue for $50/ week about 30-35 years ago OMG i know!!!!!!!!

The lower east side.....was hippies and artists.....and a lot of low income housing.....now with all of the changes the old community is very upset that its changing, all of the artists and people that have lived here for years are being driven out by the yuppie movement. They say its becoming another upper east side.
