I normally give the same thing as if I were just a guest.

I was the MOH at my cousins wedding last year and I gave her $500 but that is because she is family and my best friend....If i was a BM in someone elses wedding that I wasnt as close to I would give less.. maybe just a little more than you would as a guest..

I give an envelope with a bit more than if I was just a guest.

yeah i'm really unsure of what to do. she is my sister, but to be honest, i have VERY limited funds and i can't give her THAT much. my other sister got her A LOT of stuff that she didn't get off her registry, other sister got her a new camera, i was thinking of getting her all her dishes. She had a big registry and didnt get ALOT of it. and she was bummed out about the dishes... ugh.. i don't know what to do...

I'd give the same or more than if I were a guest. Yes, I've had to spend money on the dress, etc, but if I'm in the bridal party, then it's probably one of my best friends. I want to give a nice gift to start off their lives together. Plus, I know she'll be doing the same back for me anyway.

Gifts and money ranging from $300 - $500 (more than i would give at a normal wedding for sure; i like to clean off some last minute registry items too that people didn't get).

That would be a good idea. She would prob be so happy that the dishes came from you.

When my brother got married a few years ago, FH and me were both in the BP, I wanted to give him more than I gave but I couldn't afford to. I gave them a huge gift at the shower and then at the wedding gave $$$, I thought it wasnt enough but he was actually surprised we gave so much.

Do what you can, your sister won't judge you, I'm sure she knows your situation.

Well, sometimes the girls got together and got the flateware or china and other times we just got individual gifts like regular guests although i would always buy a more expensive gift because I was in the party

When I'm in someone's BP, I give more than I would if I were just a guest. However, since this is your sister, I would get her the dishes she was bummed out about. I'm sure your sister would understand that you're on limited funds right now.

I just splurge a little more if it's a sister or a friend and I am in the Bridal Party. I get one of the most expensive thing off of the registry or contribute to a spa day or even the wedding night hotel.

thanks for all the help.. she definitely knows my situation. FH and i are doing a short engagement so we have our OWN wedding to pay for in a short amount of time. her dishes will probably cost my about 300-350. is that enough? i'm STRESSING MYSELF OUT!!!

I give a gift, but try to give something like crystal or silver, something they will have forever. I also spend a little more then I would if I was a regular guest.

2010 bride here:

i was just in a wedding in july & i gave less then i normally would have given. from engagement party to wedding & everything in between it cost me over $1,500.00 to be in the bridal party. i know thats less then other people spend but i am a full time student & only work part time. i have already told my sister (MOH) that i do not expect any gifts from her. her help is all i need. she is in nursing school & that is a big expense. i don't mind an IOU. i will also be telling the rest of the bridal party that we will not be expecting any monetary wedding gifts from them.

Ditto honey.. I think that is a PERFECT gift!! Its what she really wanted and its above and beyond what is expected!!! I doubt that your sister wants you to break the bank in order for her to get a pricier gift ya know...
