NWR: Toddlers and Tiaras...

OMG...anyone else watching this show? it's like little miss perfect...just as scary, but different... these moms are NUTS!

ugh some of it is so disturbing. I mean they are adorable little girls but i hate those pageants. Little girls shouldn't wear THAT much make up, it messes up our skin when we're adults and they're just children. And also the whole fake hair, fake teeth, tanning its just wrong.

i totally agree. the little girls can be so cute, just dancing around and whatever...but covering them in fake tans and makeup and all that other stuff...ugh! i mean, that other show, with that freaky guy that sings about rainbows and glitter and whatever...he's terrifying. these poor little girls... they are so going to be set up for a lifetime of being judged. i saw one a few weeks ago where the mother shaves her 7 year old's legs!! gimme a break!

If i have a daughter i hope she doesn't ask to do this bc I will flat out say no.

Yeah i saw the leg shaving one. It's crazy bc the mothers spend all their time doing this and traveling and dont spend time with their husbands or daughters with their fathers as much. They did one show that had 2 girls that are now about 17 and both were in pageants when they were kids, one quit when she was like 9 and the other is still doing it. The one who is still doing it, her parents got divorced bc the mother and father basically had no relationship bc of the pageants.

Why cant they have the pageants and let the girls be little girls. They are cute little kids they dont need pounds of make up, fake hair and fake tans.

i totally agree. let them be naturally adorable, let them dance and sing or whatever and actually be real, instead of creepy versions of themselves! i don't know, at least i'm not the only one that thinks this. my FH is like 'ugh, why do you watch this' he can't even be in the room

Did you notice that half these moms look like sh!t and some of them cant even be bothered to put on a little mascara or run a comb through their hair?? They are so consumed with wanting their child to be the best and wear all that freakin makeup and shave their legs, etc. that they dont even take time for themselves either!! IF they dont have time for themselves, they definitely dont have time for their husbands or even their other children. Very sad.

I think the pageants themselves are very cute if they took away all the fakeness and let the little girls be themselves...they are cute and beautiful enough without all the theatrics.

ITA! It robs a child of their childhood. I remember when I was a kid and wanted to wear more mature things my mom used to tell me 'No, b/c it's not healthy for you to look like a mini-woman. You need to be a child when you're a child.' Even though I didn't like it, I understood what she was saying and she was so right. It's so sick to paint them like miniature women. Very unhealthy!

OM YES i have noticed that and i did see some show where they brought this up, hmmm maybe it was chelsea lately i forgot. I know all they care about is to have their daughters look that way to live through them but the best they can do for their daughters is live for themselves too.

I also hate when they say the kids want to do this. Most start when they are like 2-3 years old, like how do they even know what a pageant is, give me a break.

ugh, seriously! i noticed all that too. the moms look SO crappy most of the time! and they seem to have the worse relationships with their husbands (when they have them) ... and with their kids too! they are SO critical and MEAN to some of them. like the mother that said her daughter's skin is pasty and took her to get spray tanned at like..5 or whatever! and the daughter was like 'when i'm tan my skin is so pretty' i get so p*ssed off at these moms. if i'm ever lucky enough to have a daughter, i'd never do that to her.

what about the little girl who got so scared in the spray tan booth. I am surprised the ppl at the tanning salon even let a child get spray tanned, how do ppl do this. Yeah theres no UV rays like tanning beds but HELLO theres chemicals in these things and they are so young so not good for their skin. I REALLY hate these pageants but obviously watch the show as you can tell lol.

what about the little girl who got so scared in the spray tan booth. I am surprised the ppl at the tanning salon even let a child get spray tanned, how do ppl do this. oh oh i saw the one with the cow! lol i remember that! and yeah, the spray booth too! how does a business owner put a ..well basically a baby in a booth. the chemicals in that is SO bad for anyone, let alone a child!! i really hate them too...yet i watch the shows... my FH is always shaking his head at me

Yeah, I went to school with a girl who used to do them, but she was the only one I'd ever heard of. It's definitely much more of a non-NY thing (thank G-D!)
