it's all downhall after we get back from spring (this) break. then it's just about finishing, so the level of attention and commitment suffers.

i'm a dance teacher but yes the kids this time of year get very 'antsy' its very frustrating b/c I have to get their show numbers done and they are all on other planets.

YES!!! I don't know what you can do 'discipline' wise. . . But I call parents, and I tell the kids - like I will talk to the whole class so I am not singling anyone out - and I'll tell them . . . I am here to help you . . . if you don't want to be here then leave!!
Sometimes one or two of them will walk out and I will mark them absent so they get a cut. Then when they fail I write that they were cutting class and excessively absent.
When we come back from this 'spring break' it will be h e l l until the end of the year!

Gosh yes! I tutor AP bio and teach undergrad biology and no one even wants to be in class or in a tutoring session at all. And if its nice out, forget it, I might as well be talking to the wall

Honestly, no. I dont take anything from them and they know they can't fool around. Plus my eighth graders are so excited/nervous/sad about graduation that they're happy to sit in class and work. Guess I'm the minority here!

I am not looking forward to coming back from spring break. My 8th graders are excited cuz they are graduating, they have their trip coming up. The seventh graders I think have already started their summer vacation. As many times as I talk to them, write notes or call home it doesn't seem to phase them! I am counting the days..when I get back I think it is only 43 days until school is over..but who is counting?

Forget it! MY sixth graders have been DONE since the beginning onf the month! The hormones are def in the way... they dont do homework.... this time of the year I call more parents than all year combined! If they dont do their work or attempt to talk back to me I just take things away from them... they catch on but then sometimes they dont care!
