NY to FL = Roadtrip!!!

NY to FL = Roadtrip!!!

DH has been wanting to DRIVE to FL from NY for the longest time and I finally agreed.

So we're thinking of going mid march. Has anyone done this?

I'd like to space it out between two days so that we can stop at some attractions along the way. What states do you recommend?

I'm actually in Florida now, I'm moving here soon and your good to agree on that.....I've never done it ...I don't think I have the patience.

im actually driving from FL (where i live) to NY for the wedding in 5 weeks!!!

my parents have taken us when we were little about 3 times - and i dont know how my dad did it as the only driver!
I did it last new years eve with my sister and a gf of ours. We left on 12/25 we drove straight through ---- i drove most of it - thought i was going to go nutzzzzzzzzzzz. but i think its def worth it :)

You can stop by in Savannah Georgia, I remember they had great outlets there --- it begain with a D.....
DC is right here if you want to visit, but it is on the way --- as far as NC & SC --- thereés that South of the Border thingy - havent been there but mayeb you can look into that :)

A lot of attractions are quite a few miles off the drive. I agree about Kings Dominion though. It's not that far off of 1-95. What about stopping in DC too? Lots to see there. Oh and you have to go to South of the Border (border of NC and SC).

my family used to drive to FL every year during Feb. break.
it only takes 1 day to do it but we would leave super early the first day and drive till NJ and get breakfast, then drive to SC/NC border for dinner and stop at 'THE SOUTH OF THE BOARDER' which is a fantastic tourist trap at the SC border.
depending on my dad's mood we'd either keep driving till Georgia, or stay somewhere in SC for the night.

some of my all time favorite memories are road trips to FL
you and FH will have a blast!

Good Luck! We did that trip once when I was younger -- I swore I wouldn't do it again.

Though it might be fun for you and FH -- me and my 3 siblings and parents was not a good mix!

I personally love the DC/Baltimore area -- but that would probably break down better into a three day trip.

South of the Border that is where we stopped too! I remember loving it -- but I was about 10 at the time hahaha!

I've made the drive several times....I live in FL...I've always driven straight through...never stopped...and i'll be completing the drive twice more this year

we do it about once a year to visit my parents

they live in central florida past orlando on the east coast and it takes us about 15 hours.......we FLY down

we only stop to pee and walk the dog - we usually make one 15 minute stop to have lunch (we always get heros and keep them in a cooler until we get to south carolina) and we have lunch at a rest stop/park....besides that there is no stopping....

if you drive at about 85-95 mph the whole way it doesnt take that long

we leave at like 3 in the morning get there in time for a late dinner.....

I agree with south of the border- so fun... also at the border of florida they give you free oj- it just always felt like thats when vacation started
just one peice of advice- the traffic in DC is miserable- so you want to plan your trip so your not there during the rush hour (8-10am, 4-6pm) hope you guys have a great trip

I have done that drive alot when i was a kid.

March of 2006 we took a 2 week vacation to florida, we drove to Lorton VA, just outside Wash DC. and boarded the autotrain...It leave around 4pm and you arrive just north of Orlando the next morning. It was nice having our vehicle to drive around florida.

Its a long drive, and being on the train was alot of fun, a real adventure, you got to talk to people, and have a nice dinner on the train, The food was excellent, they showed a movie in the club car...and they give u breakfast in the morning which was really good, the best corn muffins ever.

I think its a great option then doing the entire drive, cause going through the big states it gets really boring

We actually did it in October of 06 and we're doing it the day after our wedding! We virtually drove straight through (left at 1:30 am) and it took us about 15 hrs. We did stop at a few places such as south of the border which was fun and an outlet center in georgia. It was a lot of fun!! The ride home STINKS though. FH doesnt like to fly but he has driven to california which is what we're hoping to do with some friends at some point. Make sure u bring a portable dvd player!!! Have fun!
