a week from today is our 4 year anniversary and we want to go out to a fancy dinner in the city. any suggestions? we love steakhouses, italian, new american, asian fusion....
Arnos restaurant on 38th street and broadway is a great place. The food is delicious!!!!!!!

oh there is also water's edge in LI city. . but they have a free water taxi which is kind of romantic and cool. . def take a little longer to get to. . but you can also drive and just go out in the taxi!

My favorite restaurant in the whole world is in NYC. It's called Volare and it's on 4th ave, just west of 6th street. It's a tiny little Italian place. The owners, Sal and Falco are amazing. They take the time to come over and see how you are. The waiters are fabulous and the food is out of this world! My dad does a lot of business there, so he's formed a friendship with the owners. They are so accommodating!
In all the years I've been going there, I've never once seen a menu. They just make whatever I want. I normally get grilled chicken over white risotto with only green veggies. They list what they have and I tell them what to put in it! Any risotto from them is amazing and they make a veal chop that is to die for.............
I want to go there...right now...even though I had dinner 10 minutes ago....mmmmm........

TAO - I love it there, the decor is unbelievable and there is a lounge area to have drinks before or after. Very trendy and the food is amazing!

Maremotos (spelling) restaurant- cant remember name- on 10th ave- asian fusion Tao- best tuna tartar over crispy rice in the world

its japanese....SO GOOD!!! fh and i went there for our 6 year anniversary and i swear it was the best food i have ever had!!
there is one in tribeca and one in midtown...we went to Tribeca--i think the decor looked better there but i am sure the food is the same.

I didn't read through everyones suggestions but mine are:
Phillipe Chow One If By Land, Two If By Sea Craft Del Posto Daniel Japonois Molyvos Ninos Ono Primehouse Del Friscos is delicious but I'm not sure if its anniversaryish, its a little corporate for me for an anniversary, but just my 2 pennies. Uncle Jacks is delicious and a little more intimate for steak :)

Def. One if by Land, Two if by Sea - and make sure you ask for a table on the first floor when you make your reservation. IMO it's nicer than upstairs and has better atmosphere. It's such a romantic place!

It really depends on the mood you want to set.
Tao has great food but it was like eating in the middle of a club because there was loud music.
I've always liked Havanna Central for Cuban food.
And we went to Tony's Di Napoli this weekend and the food was great. And extremely reasonably priced as well.
There's also a great little hole in the wall place on 2nd called El Pote. Just about the best authentic Spanish food you can get.

hmmm i think i might be the only person who wasn't that crazy about Morimoto. Apps were great but maybe i should've ordered a different entree

Lupa is my favorite for Italian. If Sandro's is still open, I had a great meal with great service there as well. I can't disagree with Campanola either. For steak I like Wolfgang's. For frenchy-american Etas-Unis is really good, Chanterelle is another nice special occasion classic.

I LOVE the Water's Edge - the views of the city are amazing and the food is fabulous.

I find Asia de Cuba extremely relaxing and fun.. i always feel like i'm on vacation in Miami when i'm there.
STK for steak and good looking people.
BuddaKhan fabulous atmosphere.. small food portions.
Son Cubano.. fun cuban food and later there is dancing and music.
