Oahu hotel recomendations
I am planning a honeymoon to Hawaii which will include 2 days in Oahu and using a 5 star hotel like the Halekulani puts the price a little higher than we'd like to pay, and we figure we wont be in the room much in Oahu anyway (too busy sightseeing) so i was just wondering if anyone had suggestions for less expensive hotels.I heard Outrigger was good?

Re: Oahu hotel recomendations
Tara,I'm not going to Hawaii for my honeymoon but when I was looking to go we were going to stay in the Hilton Hawaiian Village in the Ala'i Tower. ITs suppose to be gorgeous a resort w/in the Hilton Village. Hope this helps. I also know people who have stayed at the Hyatt there but it isn't on the beach!

Re: Oahu hotel recomendations
All I can say is if you can swing it, the Halekulani is amazing! We paid around $395 per night for an ocean view (magnificent) including breakfast. It was a lot less than the Four Seasons in Maui and better! I think the rooms started around $325. but they do have special packages. Check their website.

Re: Oahu hotel recomendations
Hi Scoop:Yes that hotel is very pink, but that was the very first hotel on the Hawaiian Islands and they tried to keep it's natural look. It has a very pretty bech front and is right next to the restaurant called Dukes that has this excellent dessert called Hilo Pie.

Re: Oahu hotel recomendations
We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiin Village. It is very big. We were not in our room much when we were there since we just went to see Pearl Harbor. It was very nice. We took a walk down to Halekani and it was very very elegant but we figured we werent going to stay in the room in Oahu so we stayed at Hilton Hawaiin Village. They did upgrade our room.

Re: Oahu hotel recomendations
We stayed at the Village, too, and had a great view of the beach and Diamond Head. We were there 2 nights and were just in the room to sleep. What we liked about the Hilton was that it was usually the first stop on the bus tours we took, so we got on and off first. The village is the first hotel on the strip (it's closer to the aiport but the farthest from Diamond Head). It cost $184 a night when we went.

Re: Oahu hotel recomendations
Good topic Tara!
I am curious myself as we are staying 2 nights in Oahu before we leave for the cruise. I heard the Hyatt is nice but does not compare to the one in Kauai. We plan on staying at that one when we go to Kauai. The Hilton I heard is beautiful. Which hotels are in a more secluded area? I don't want to be in the heat of the city or near so many tourists.

Re: Oahu hotel recomendations
the hyatt is nice and its location is perfect if you like shopping the ritzier stores in oahu....the one in kauai has a better locale and landscaping, but our rooms were virtually the same in both...just edited to say - don't worry too much about your hotel room in oahu, there is so much to do that you will spend no time in the hotel at all...especially if you are only there for a couple of nights...this is where you can save a few $$$ and then upgrade elsewhere...

Re: Oahu hotel recomendations
I'm planning on staying at the Hyatt in Oahu because I believe they give you better rates in you stay in 2 or more Hyatts. I'm also probably going to the one in Kauii. It really doesn't matter that much because Oahu is the one place we really don't plan on spending anytime in our room. I'm also very interested in hearing anymore input from anyone else that has been there, though

Re: Oahu hotel recomendations
I went to Oahu in 2000 and I stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. It was amazing. It is in a prime location, on the heart of the strip, right on Waikiki Beach. We would lay by pool and just stare off at Diamond Head. Duke's Canoe Club is in the hotel and it is the most popular spot to have drinks on the beach. It is especially beautiful at night. I would definitely stay there. There are alot of Outriggers in Oahu, it is easy to get confused. I know there are at least two on the beach and a few further inland. I stayed at Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. There is Outrigger on the Beach in Oahu also, but that one is not on Waikiki Beach.Good luck.

Re: Oahu hotel recomendations
We were also in Oahu for 2 nights, and weren't too concerned about the rooms. We ended up staying at the Sheraton Waikiki. We opted for a room with a city view, to save some $$. I'm sorry I don't remember how much a night we paid, but the hotel was very nice, and we were within walking distance of all the shops.Hope this helps.

Re: Oahu hotel recomendations
Do you definately want to go to OAhu for two days----I was going to say you can take a day trip to oahu and see all the sites and stay anextra day at either your other islands. It might be a cheaper way to goThat is what we are doing.......
