October 03 Brides.......

October 03 Brides.......

Where are all of you in your planning?

I'm looking high and low for a dj and a videographer. We got engaged over a year ago and I thought I had all this time... I'm now thinking I wasted so much time

OctBride03 where are you in the planning stages?

Re: October 03 Brides.......

I don't think that you have wasted too much time!

I got married this past October and if it makes you feel better, we didn't book our photographer/videographer until November 2001 and the DJ until the end of January 2002!

Re: October 03 Brides.......

Thanks! The vendors are hounding me- telling me that Oct. is the most popular month and they get booked fast. I usually don't listen to them when I think they're just going for the 'sale', but didn't think it was far from the truth.

Re: October 03 Brides.......

Hi! I'm getting married on Oct. 19! This is what I've gotten done so far:

My gown
The church
Our reception hall
Photographer
Videographer
Bands

And that's it!

MV1003,

I know that October is supposedly a popular month, but I don't know if you should believe everything the vendors are saying... BUT I do recommend that if you see something you really love, I'd book it right away just in case! Also, you mentioned you need a videographer. We are going with Bellarino... Phil the owner is GREAT to work with! It's a husband and wife team! The number is 781-7710!

Re: October 03 Brides.......

Octbride03- thanks so much. I called Bellarino and Phil was so nice on the phone. He had my date booked though I'm going to candlelite on Thurs. and plan on booking them if I love the work.

I think I'm pretty much at the same place in planning as you are. Right on target.
What are you doing for entertainment? (I read bands as your wedding bands)

Re: October 03 Brides.......

That's right! Right on target. Although, I feel like I have to start getting this ball rolling again.... My next step is BM's gowns, flowers and honeymoon! Then I think I can take a break again Yes we are having two bands, one American band (Rhapsody from Skyline Orchestras) and a Croatian band (for my FH's family) Good luck with Candlelight on Thurs. OH! You also mentioned a DJ, have you checked out Get In Tune yet... I always recommend them even though I'm not having a DJ - lol! My friend is using Glen for her wedding next year and LOVES them! So I figured whenever someone's looking for a DJ, I might as well share what I hear, right? Anyway, a lot of brides on this board speak very highly of Get In Tune! Good luck with that! Where are you having your reception? OH DUH, I think I already knew you were getting married at Crest Hollow! OOPS!

Re: October 03 Brides.......

Thanks for the tip on GIT & Glen. I'll investigate!
I have been looking at BM dresses too. I found the color I want- well, have narrowed it down to 2.
I know the style I like, I just don't want the girls to have to spend a fortune. No one in my bridal party lives near and they all have to travel. That's good enough for me. I'm just trying to be as helpful in other areas as I can. I'm thinking of David's Bridal or After Six.

Re: October 03 Brides.......

Actually David's Bridal had some nice dresses! I'm trying to look for something not so expensive either! All of my girls have different budgets ya know??? I'm going Thursday, I'll fill you in on what I've seen! I'm going to Macy's Bridal in Manhasset to start - hopefully I'll get an idea! I know my color too! I'm using, wine (more of red wine type of look), bordeaux, burgundy, maroon, or whatever you'd like to call it!

Anyway, are we the only ones getting married next October?????? Where's everyone else??

Re: October 03 Brides.......

haha! I was thinking the same thing- perhaps I should have just sent a forum e-mail to you?
I love the wine color! It really looks fabulous. You can do so much with it too My cousin had a red wine and it was gorgeous! I'm looking into the silver family- platinum or a slate which would be darker. Or, a dark bluish silver???

Have you begun to think about your honeymoon? (like who hasn't?) We really wanted to go to Hawaii, but I think we may end up in Aruba- guaranteed good weather! for a week, then a cruise for the 2nd week.

I can't wait to hear what you see at Macy's. Good luck!

Re: October 03 Brides.......

I was almost going to go with Platinum!!! I saw a dress I loved and that was the color!!! Almost made me change my mind, but I had so many visions with the color I chose already!

We have talked about it.... Of course October is hurricane season! We are probably just going to chance it and go to the Bahamas. We always wanted to go! Aruba was in our mind, but we really like Sandals... I've looked everywhere, St. Thomas, Dominican Republic, EVERYWHERE, and we always ended up with Bahamas on our mind! I'd love to do Hawaii, but my FH job has certain guidelines to follow when vacation is needed

I will definately keep you posted on my findings at Macys!

Re: October 03 Brides.......

A girl I work with just got back from the Bahamas! Her pictures are amazing!!! I would love to go there on a future vacation. I have been there once, but didn't see any of the things in her pictures- she was right next to Atlantis. Sounds wonderful.

(The coloring of the room at the Crest Hollow is a wine- so I changed my mind as I didn't want the girls to blend in with the room too much- but I love that color too!)

Sunday, Oct. 12th here! This is what we have so far:

Church
Reception Hall
Photographer
Videographer
Florist
Honeymoon
My Gowm
BM Gowns
Some of the Bridal party gifts

Basically, we just have to get a DJ because the one we have now we want to get rid of and this weekend we are going to look at tuxes. I was just looking at Save the Date magnets. I want to send them out with our X-mas cards. Anyone have any reccomendations? and how much your spending?

Stavia- i thought it would be too early to block rooms. Let me know if they let you. Then I'll get that taken care of too!

Re: October 03 Brides.......

Hi ladies can I play?

My date is also Sun. October 12!

We've booked:

Church
Officiant
Reception Site
Videographer - Wild Rose
Photographer - Ed Collins
DJ - Ebony Entertainment

Ihave a whole lotta ideas/things planned out, but no $$ to pay for them!

Also researching our HM now - we're 99% sure we're going to Jamaica, just trying to decide between Couples & Sandals.

Re: October 03 Brides.......

Wow! I'm glad to see there are more of us Oct. Brides out there- and yes- doesn't it seem so far away?

Spel- so much in common! I've booked Flower Michele- Love John Feeney! Went to SAS- haven't made a decision yet though but I was really impressed with them. OH, and the dress! every dress I picked out ramdomly was a Jim Hjelm. I'm having my dress made, but it's a knock off of a JH I wanted to do different beading etc.. and am paying a little less $$$ (hate having a budget). I know we have a lot of time for the wedding bands, but I got them already. I just love looking at them.

Maysie18- as you can see- I'm w/ you on the $$$.
We went to Jamaica- Montego Bay - 2 years ago! It's beautiful

I just blocked off some rooms this weekend and need to block off a few more- but yes, you can if you want to.

Stavia- you're not behind at all. Don't wait too much longer to start looking at vendors though. You may find that you don't like who you're looking at and need to keep searching- like me. Even if it takes me to Jan. to find a dj for the $$ I want to pay, I'll wait.

What did you do for STD's? I'm stumped? I don't have a budget for this, but need to send them to the out of towners- where did you find magnets?
Help please..............

and what were you ladies thinking of for colors for the BM dresses?

Re: October 03 Brides.......

I used the favor lady for my std:
http://www.favorlady.com/index.html
Checked her out. Great pricing, great product! I found her through other postings here.

Re: October 03 Brides.......

I'm making my own STD magnets. the cost is about $20-$25 w/o postage. They will be business card size, w/a graphic of a bride & groom on them & our wedsite addy.

edited to say: if I were going to buy my STD magnets, I would've definitely gone w/the favor lady!!

Re: October 03 Brides.......

Thanks for the tips!!! I looked at them and they look fabulous --- I saw something on a thread the other day that was a letter w/ a tie of ribbon on the top- and the wording said 'We're tying the knot' I just thought it was so cute, and something I can make if I got nice ribbon and the paper. (I really think I'm Martha sometimes, when I'm not close to anything near it)

There's just so many things to think about, I'm a little overwhelmed.
