I'm looking high and low for a dj and a videographer. We got engaged over a year ago and I thought I had all this time... I'm now thinking I wasted so much time

Take everything a little at a time.... Don't stress on too many small things right now... Your idea for your STD cards is wonderful, go with it! Don't doubt yourself in any of your planning. I was VERY overwhelmed at one point and just decided to take a break... However, I'm back to planning starting tomorrow when I go look for BM's gowns!
Where is everyone having their reception??? Mine is at Fox Hollow! I'm very excited!!!

Which church are you getting married in? I'm at the Crest Hollow- and the ceremony will be at Our Lady of Victory in Floral Park. I want to investigate a place like a beach to go take a few pictures before going to CC. Any suggestions? I hear there's a nice beach in Oyster Bay?

Hi! I'm trying to think of a beach in Oyster Bay, I'm on the South Shore, plenty of beaches here! hee hee! Anyway, the beaches in Bayville are nice and private, but I'm not sure if that's too far from Crest Hollow... But the grounds on CC are gorgeous!!! So if you don't find a beach close by, I think your pics will come out great there!
Oh good you called Glen, I hope you like him! I'm pretty sure you will! I'm not using him, but like I said my friend loves him!
I'm getting married in St. James in Seaford... I'm a little nervous because I've already received two notices for Pre Cana... Am I supposed to go this early???
I'm going to call it a night! Tough day off! HAHA!!! I'll keep you posted about Macy's hopefully I'll find something! Keep your fingers crossed!

okay other Oct 12 girls did either one of you take villa lombardi's(booked 2 1/2 yrs in advance) or paul Marino ( i think that's his name) everytime I went to book something some other bride on the same day took it!! LOL!! I was so happy to see 2 other brides on Oct 12th!!

We are starting our cocktail hour at 6:30, so I guess it will end at 11:30. My FH wanted 7-12 but at my MOH's wedding ( on a sunday)people started to leave at 11 and I felt so bad for her. I didn't want the same thing to happen so I compromised with him
edited to say: The only thing with that 3 day weekend is alot of people don't have off for columbus day

I'm a Sunday too. My reception will be from 6-11. I figure the people who want to stay will stay, and those (like co-workers) who want to leave early will.
Oct.bride2003- I love the grounds and want to take tons of pictures at the CC as well. I just am trying (probably not going to work out) to stop just he and I and take a few pictures on the beach. We go to Long Beach or Jones all the time over the summer and love the beach- so, I really hope I can check out the North Shore and find something on the way. Chuck at Fine Art suggested a place, but we didn't end up booking him- now I don't know where he was talking about.

My Sunday reception is 6:30 cocktail hour. Reception is 7:30-11:30. I'm hoping everyone stays until the end!
mv, Maybe if you posted a North Shore Beach search, someone may be able to help you.... hopefully There are definately beaches, I'm just not sure what's close to CC... Whose your photographer? Maybe he/she can help you! Good luck with that search! BTW, I forum mailed you back!

Hey..i think we are thinking 4;30-10:30..we are getting married there so we will tell peole to get there at 4 and then ceremony will start at 4;30...cocktail and reception to follow... we wanted to get married while it is still light and then end not too late since it is a sun...hope it works out..thanks for you info edited to say that it was not me who took villa or the paul guy..must be lots more of us out there =)

I'm out of the loop for 1 day and I miss all the excitement!!! I'm October 25!!
So far, we have:
My dress Church Reception Hall DJ Photographer Videographer Honeymoon STD magnets - Laura from LA Productions is finalizing them.
I think that's about it. We have to do limos soon - I think we're leaning towards All-Star. Have no clue about the flowers yet.

Karen32- Sounds like you're ahead of all of us! hee hee. I wanted to start looking for limo's but when I called a few they told me I was way too early due to insurance reasons? Is that true? Mind you, I started calling in Sept- but now that we're all under a year, they should be able to book it right?
Where'd all of you get your dress? What style did you get?

OH MY GOODNESS!!! It didn't really hit me until you said it!!! We're under a year!!!! HOLY MOLY!!! Now I'm nervous!!! Even though it's months away, it's going to go quick especially now since the holidays are coming and all! OH MY!!!
Edited to talk about my dress! Mine is a Jim Hjelm, I got it at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa... Strapless with some sparkly beadwork on the bodice. The bottom is plain satin or could be silk or even both! I have no idea! I'm bad like that!

Ha! That's why I was a little overwhelmed the other day. Our dates are under a year- and the holidays are upon us. I don't want to do anything during the holiday season or the winter for that matter. So, I want to get everything booked and take the winter researching small things like table #'s
I think we're all on the same wave length! I'm having a Jim Hjelm copied (and I don't know silk/satin either...) This is going to be my dress- strapless and w/ different beading.
beautiful dress...do you know i have not gone looking yet...so bad need to do that. I am taking grad classes at night and sometimes I wonder when i will have the time..I know it will all work out! Thanks for sharing your pic

I just ordered my invitations and favors today!! Thank god one more thing I don't have to worry about. It's really weird when you see it written down. I was thinking 'Wow I'm actually doing this' and now it doesn't seem so far away (before when we started planning it was 2 1/2 years and it seemed like forever).

I'm trying to get as much as I can done so i don't have to freak out later. As you can tell I'm a pre-planner. I'm really bad that way otherwise it eats me up inside.

Oct1203- you really are a planner! That's awesome! You're right, that way, when the time gets closer you can concentrate on other things, like relaxing
We were thinking of making our inviations, so as you can imagine, we haven't done anything else but think about it. I've got some ideas though. I'm just thrilled I got him to go register w/ me this past weekend. We didn't finish, but at least it's started
lltravis- you've still got time. Sounds like you're pretty busy. I would start looking though, just so you can start seeing what you like.
