I visited both places, I visited Chateau La Mer first and fell in love with it right away. It was everything I wanted, from the location to the price. I fell in love.

I visited Swan club a week later and fell in love again. so confused, I couldn't make my choice, Swan Club is absolutely beautiful, especially the outside. but the room they had for my wedding was ugly. Thank god the make the choice easier for me.

So we went with Chateau La Mer and I am very happy with them so far. We went to the food tasting and the food was delicious.

Any other CLM brides here?

Hey Shell, which room were they trying to give you for the number of people you had? The Contessa Room?

Hi Nikki!

...to answer the previous question... still hall hunting!

You know what would be the ideal place!!!???
A GOOD Caribbean hall!!! When we first got engaged, I was so frustrated that there seemed to be NO PLACE with Caribbean catering!

FH and I want all that good stuff on our day... oxtail, rice and peas, cadimanola (sp?), ohalda (Panamanian), roti... it's what we're used to and what our families would enjoy! LoL I'd definitely prefer that over some Cordon Bleu

Too bad there aren't any good halls like that out there (as far as I know).

Hey JP I feel you on the Caribbean Hall/Catering thing. Since FI's family is Jamiacan, I decided that I would have a Caribbean themed ENGAGEMENT PARTY!

Can anyone recommend a good caterer? I normally eat at Islands in Brooklyn and sometimes Sally's and Negril Village in the City. Islands does cater but they do not have everything that I want to have at the party. I want someone who can make good beef patties from scratch, mac & cheese, and tender meaty oxtails. Also any recommendations for a place where I can get a good BLACK cake would be appreciated.

Okay Ladies:

What do you think looks better on women of color, a WHITE or IVORY wedding gown? Do you think either color is okay? What color do you plan to wear for your BIG day?

I love the white dress!! I'm wearing white too!!

Yes they try to put me in the contessa room. It wasn't ugly I just didn't like it much. Plus FH loves the bay windows at CLM

The only place I know of that will do Caribbean catering is Eastwood Manor in the Bronx. Fh and I also wanted to make out own menu, so we booked a venue where we had to supply our own food. We looked into a few caterers, and we found one that we really liked. If you want the contact info, FM me. After all of that, we decided to have a destination wedding in Disney World.

Hello my sista's

My name is Andrea and I currently reside in Hempstead. I am wanting to plan a 'cocktail only reception' not the sit down. Still looking. Open for suggestions. AIM name for convo is ABMASTERS04-I find it easier to have lengthy convos that way.
Nice to meet everyone :)

Re: ***Official African American Brides Thread***

I am taking the color of my dress to another level. As in my heritage and an old saying...women that are getting married and have children should not wear pure white dresses...yeah okay.
Anyway I am going to have my dress made with an shimmer of pearly lavender. *I hope* if not ivory would be the selection.
