Hi Ladies, I want to start this thread so we can talk about DeSeversky and share thoughts and ideas. I know there are 2 others getting married at DeSeversky so far.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
After reading the negative comments last week, i panicked and started calling a few DOC's. i am definitely going to hire one. i am an event planner for work, and need someone like me (only, not in the white dress!) to be there to make sure things run smoothly. I do events at the four seasons and the ritz and we still need somone on our side, who knows exactly what WE want. every event/bride is different. i was thinking about hiring a DOC before even reading the neg comments. but now i am definitley hiring one. i might call Rosalie now that i know you girls are using her.
and i recall a mention about not having candles on top of the fireplace. but that was it. i am doing the mansion style, and didnt want to do traditional CP's in the ballroom, and was just going to do small votives. so i hope we are allowed to use them!

I am really glad I did!!! I really like Rosalie, best $$$ I spent, and she really goes beyond the call of duty. Another DOC that I liked and was rec to me by another bride who got married at deseversky was Laurie Savino - I spoke with her as well and she sounds great. You might want to start with either of those people.
Don't be too nervous - I spoke with my DOC who said that things have run very smoothly there and only had positive things to say. Debbie also said that the more detail you give her the better - Debbie has been responsive to my requests and has been willing to work with my vision - in fact the flexibility on Deseversky's side has been great.
Your day will be great

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Does DeSeversky have a website? I'm just beginning to look at places and because I live out of town, I'm dependent on my mom's suggestions. It sounds like this is a really nice place, I'd love to take a look at it.
Thanks!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
FYI-I went to the wine dinner last night at Deseversky and the food was so yummy!!!! Just thought I would let you all know. I had gone to a lunch there also and the food was alright, but Debbie told me the quality and service would be similar to the monthly wine dinners. I was not dissappointed and I am really picky about food.
Also at night the grounds are softly lit and it is so romantic. I can't wait!!!!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
FYI - i have spoken to 2 vendors recently (one of which his brother got married at Deseversky) and they raved about this place. Like the post on the review board said, vendors have been super excited about coming to this place because it is beautiful, romantic, off the beaten path, and the food is gormet. Let me stress again how much I liked the food, if you haven't gone to a wine dinner here go!!! The food is up there with the best restaurants I've been too. Even if your just reading this post, you should go with you FH and have a romantic night out

That is great to hear. I know the food there is awesome. We have been to brunches on a few holidays and everyone in my family has loved it every time we go. I am so excited to be having my reception here.
Anyone having a cocktail musician?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
We're planning on having a cellist (my FH is one...so we'd thought it would be nice to have)...however, we don't know of any. Any recommendations out there for where to find good solo-ists...cellists specifically?
AND...where would you suggest having them play, since cocktail hour is, or can be, sort of spread out and sprawling amongst several rooms.

A cellist would be beautiful and meaningful for you guys. We are having a pianist as well. He is going to be in the red room. DeSeversky has a baby grand there and he has played it before. He is really reasonably priced also.
Check out this link and email a few of the vendors.
Also I would post on the vendor board and I am sure a few music companies will send you info via FM. Good luck!
We are doing the cocktail reception, so our situation is a little different. but we were thinking of having strolling musicians b/c we dont know where to have them set up!
ps. talked to Debbie the other day, she said candles in the ballroom is totally fine, except on the fireplace of course.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
I was seriously considering De Seversky but I have the same reservations as everyone else. I did feel as if they were a bit nonchalant about everything. Debbie seemed a bit like a space cadet and I'm worried that people will thing the mansion style wedding is just a cheaper option that we chose, which it isn't. Won't people feel jipped if they don't get to sit down for dinner? Anyway, who is this Laurie Savino and Rosalie I keep hearing about? Does anyone have phone numbers for them. I may feel better once I speak to them. Thanks!!!

Laurie Savino's # is 718-309-4054 Even with all of the issues at this place-it turned out great- we had a sit down for 100 people-& everything turned out fine-but it took much work ahead of time

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Hi All! This is my first day on LIW. I have a verbal hold on Aug 12th for the De Seversky. A few of the things here has made me a bit nervous but I absolutely love the place. My sister and MOH is a coporate lawyer and when going over he contract with her there was a lot of questions we came up with. Has anyone altered or added to their contract with Debbie? I am also concerened about reaching her. I tried for 4hrs today before i was able to get in touch with her. Please give me any and all input. As I said I really love the place but want to be certain I am making the right choice. I look forward to speaking to all of you. Thanks!!!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
We had a hold for 8/12/06 as well. However, my FH and I decided against De Seversky because we have 180 on the guest list, which is too many for a sit down dinner and I wasn't crazy about the mansion style. Debbie said the whole idea of the mansion style is that not everyone is in the same room at once. I was afraid that if we did it this way, people who knew each other would converge into their little groups in separate rooms and not evryone would socialize together. I fell in love with the mansion itself and the grounds. I think it would be ideal for people with arund 100 guests. I also felt that for the money, there was just too many rules and not enough menu options. Everything that looked really good was an upgrade for an additional fee. Anyway, I wish you tons of luck and everybody that heard that I was thinking about De Seversky said the food was amazing and that it was such a beautiful place and that they would love to go to a wedding there.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
I obviously havn't had the wedding yet, but i think it will be ok. it is not your 'typical' wedding hall, which is what i think makes it great and sometime not so great. i woudl suggest hiring a coordinator if it is in your budget to deal with some of the not so great things. i find it easier to reach Pilar by phone, and she is very helpful. Debbie suggested emailing her, then that way too you have your answers in writing incase something happens or they try to change things on you.
I LOVE YOUR CAKE--can I use it too?? I met the pastry guy at his bakery-seems nice enough-have you met him? The place is called Leonetti's on Glen Cove Rd--you can bring him the picture to make sure he can do it-- Do you know if there are any luncheons coming up at de Seversky-for Valentines maybe?
Reply , the pastry chef is Salverio, he did our e-party cake did you know he came in 4th in the vegas pastry chef compition?
