ok i have a question. Are any of you girls doing a guest sign in book type of thing?? If so, how are you planning on doing it?

First, DULHAN...I want to see more pics...your avatar is lovely!

And I think we're leaning towards a wish bowl instead of a guest book. I really wanted to do a polaroid guest book, but with 500 people, FH was like yea, that's not happening. And we figure most people won't sign the book anyway, so with a wish bowl, whoever does participate, will hopefully say something nice....and then I'll make a collage of the wishes after the wedding

i think we are going to have around 225. My guestlist could've easily been around 500 but since i am moving away to Cali after the wedding i told my parents i wanted a small wedding so we basically just invited like 2 or 3 from each family... you know how that went. People Beeching

ok girls, i have something for ya! well, i numbered each rsvp card in the back to keep track who sent them back. Plus, my rsvp were made of fabric. well, someone really SPECIAL decide pick the fabric off so i can't see the number and then responded NO and didnt write their name either!

WHHHATTT??? When you find out who it was, make sure to smack them for making your life more difficult

We narrowed it down to two people!
So since i have a rsvp date of 2/1/08 yes people.. i was just calling people b/c i haven't gotten rsvp's. Well, my dad just called my cousin AND he claims his wife handles the mail so he isn't sure if she mailed it or not. The second person, i spoke them the first time and he goes oh my wife mailed it! So like two weeks later nothing i call AGAIN and leave a voicemail and he never returned the call. So, my father goes give it a try again and thats it! so of course i call again and SURPRISE he still doesnt pick up! So what would you do with this person??? mark it as a NO? Well, people are retarded considering i numbered each rsvp did they not think i wouldn't figure it?

Im thinking i'll just stick with the guestbook. And I'll make sure all my friends and family sign it. I dont really care if the other ppl do or not lol

GT: I have to remember to number my RSVP's....such a smart thing to do

RG: I think (and hope) that a lot of people...at least extended extended family...will rsvp no. i feel like i could have done so much more of the things i wanted to do with a smaller wedding, but because we have to anticipate at least 350-400 yes's, it really limits our budget

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

We're having 500 people at the reception too - the engagement alone is going to have 300! I'm so nervous engagement party is in 5 weeks! Anyhow - Dulhan love your avatar - would love to see more pics. I definitely want to make a colage w/ our parents wedding pics and our engagement and wedding pics (since wedding is in india) but we'll see - the guest book seems like a good idea too but i dont know how many people will sign

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Hey guys, we only had like 200 people at the Reception and that seemed like a lot, can't imagine 500. Also, we didn't do a guest book sign in or anything like that because I know only my friends would sign and nobody else. So instead, I saved everybody's wedding cards in a keepsake box. That seemed to be more special.

I know you guys are waiting for pictures, I have been soo busy trying to sort through them all and I found a few good ones. I will scan them tonite.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Ok I am trying to answer all questions:

I did wish bowl for the engagement and we had about 200 people and I don't think a lot of people got it..

I wrote out names on the cards.. we got a few for our engagement where people didn't put their names and some didn't even put how many were attending.. so we did both even if we were inviting the entire crew.. just so that thye would know if all 10 are not attending, scratch and write 5..

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Thanks guys. The cake was from the RH but they got it from Buttercooky bakery in Floral Park. Mmmmmmmmm, it was soooo good!!!! We still had the top layer leftover and they gave it to us to take home and we finished it in like 2 days, hehehehehe. But if you guys get a chance to get your own cake, Buttercooky is the place to go. They are right on Jericho Tpke in Floral Park.
