Thanks guys. The cake was from the RH but they got it from Buttercooky bakery in Floral Park. Mmmmmmmmm, it was soooo good!!!! We still had the top layer leftover and they gave it to us to take home and we finished it in like 2 days, hehehehehe. But if you guys get a chance to get your own cake, Buttercooky is the place to go. They are right on Jericho Tpke in Floral Park.

oh thats where i was planning on going! one of my friends recommended that to me. yay! :)
if you dont mind me asking, around how much did you pay for the cake?

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Duhlan, the cake was included in our package at Floral Terrace. We didn't have to pay anything. But I remember my banquet manager saying that a cake like that costs about $500-$700 or so.

You look beautiful!! I had no idea ButterCooky was able to create cakes like yours! Your cake is beautiful. I always go there to buy cakes and cookies for special occasions.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Teaser, hahahahah, I know. I was going to put up more but the stupid scanner we have at home was taking forever and we were both getting restless you know. I didn't get the DVD of the pictures yet. But I will see if I can try and scan some more. But I still can't believe that night came and went with the blink of an eye. All those months of aggravation and planning went so quick, you didn't even notice. But one thing is for sure, we really did enjoy it. We danced soo much that we couldn't even mingle with all the guests unless they came onto the dance floor, lol.

This part of the whole process is my biggest nightmare! My friend got a house clock from GEMS (discount store) and they left the price tag on the box $3.99.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

haha, yea, definitely expect for that to happen. at my engagement party, a couple of my uncles and aunts didn't give us anything (whereas a few others were extremely generous)....so I guess it kind of evens out in the end.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

SO FH and I were thinking of making CD's as favors......we're making 2 or 3 different kinds, custom making the labels with our picture on it, and putting them in a plastic case that has 2 hearts imprinted on them. We're planning on giving 1 CD w/ gourmet chocolates wrapped in an organza bag to each guest. Do you think this would be considered a cheap favor?

Also, are you guys doing different favors for kids 12 and under? I don't know that they would appreciate a CD. We are doing a little activity book and a small pack of crayons for them, but what else?

yeah, definitely be prepared by how people will cheap out. my uncle and his family PLUS his married son and his wife ( who dont even live in the same state) gave us a combined total of $100. expect lots of $100 gifts from families!

i dont think its cheap at all!! i didnt do favors for the kids but honestly, if i had more time to plan my wedding, i would have definitely done something. we had like 15 kids there. i dont know whats popular nowadays in the toy dept.

it wouldn't be cheap at all.. why would they even think that??? i think it's a great idea that you are giivng each person something to take home..

we;re doing it per couple/family..

oh my.. just to add to your scenario, i'll give you the update as time progresses..

so this uncle and aunty has 2 kids.. both married.. i know the kids, not the uncle and aunty.. so we invited the kids and their spouses.. FH's parents know the uncle and aunty so they invited them..

so that means, we sent out 3 invites.. and the big question is how will they gift us?! i can't wait for this one!
