Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

i've been to those expos. the one at the sterling was mostly florists and stage decorators. as well as DJ's.
the dulhan expo is pretty big. I went to the one they had in december. they do have jewelry there, but its pretty pricey!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

GT, yes I did have the extra table, but I didn't even need it because instead of people bringing in extra people, a lot of people just didn't show up. Some had good excuses (family issues and stuff) and sent their gifts through other people. But some people just didn't show up and didn't say anything. So we had a few empty seats. But it worked out because my family told some people the night before to bring their kids and stuff and it ended up filling up. We had a little less than 200 guests but had to pay for 200 anyway because there was a 200 person minimum.
So my 'nosebleed extra table' idea didn't work, but at least nobody else will try it, lol.

I'm actually booking the photog and DJ that I first met at the expo - it's good - you can compare vendors right there and see what you like best.

I'm actually getting ready in a hotel.....my house is a bit far from the rh and we have a lot of oot guests...its customary for them to stay at our house, and i cant have that stress.......so instead, everyone is just staying at the hotel.

florist: pedestals

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I second Pedestals as the florist. They did a great job and very pleasant to deal with.

We didn't have a hotel. My parents INSISTED on the whole family staying at my house so we had a madhouse. We got ready at the salon for the most part with hair and makeup and dressed at home. But I wish it was at a hotel, would have been a little less stressful.

Goodness - my parents are insisting everyone stay at the house as well - RIDICULOUS - my mom's going to be too busy getting food for everyone rather than getting ready! ughh - it's going to be frustrating but we'll see.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I'm actually considering getting a hotel. How many traditions are there the day of the ceremony?
The reception hall won't let us there more than 3 hours before the events begin unless we pay more.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

our first guest arrives tomorrow..

my parents are adamant about all the guests stay at our house on the days leading up to the wedding.. and the night before, we all will be going to the hotel.. we live about 2 hrs away.. so it wouldn't be feasible to get an army of people out of the house in time..

and guess what.. my parents are paying for their hotel!! i think i've screamed my lungs out about this topic.. but it's of no avail.. Grrr

I actually found Pedestals to be very expensive for what I was looking for.. they were very pleasant to deal with but, I just didn't find them to be worth as much as they were charging..

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

haha thats funny! well its not easy for everyone to stay at the house here..people have to get hotels. Its not like back in pakistan or india, where you have servants and people to pick up after everyone lol
sometimes they dont understand. i had some family members do that for my engagement party and they decided not to come at all which was sooo annoying. be more supportive and understanding!!
