our first guest arrives tomorrow..

my parents are adamant about all the guests stay at our house on the days leading up to the wedding.. and the night before, we all will be going to the hotel.. we live about 2 hrs away.. so it wouldn't be feasible to get an army of people out of the house in time..

and guess what.. my parents are paying for their hotel!! i think i've screamed my lungs out about this topic.. but it's of no avail.. Grrr

I actually found Pedestals to be very expensive for what I was looking for.. they were very pleasant to deal with but, I just didn't find them to be worth as much as they were charging..

your first guest is arriving so soon??

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Hi Ladies-

Sorry I've been MIA. I've been busy busy with work lately, so I haven't been able to log on to LIW at all

Quick question.....Is It too early to start booking Limo Services? I'm not sure what the protocol is. Does anyone have any rec.?

Before I forget and get some zzz's....does anyone have any vendor recommendations for invitations? I came across a few sites this weekend..

http://www.indianweddingcard.com/

Have a great day ladies!!!

We booked our limo a few months ago I think the protocol is, do everything as early as possible, because vendors do book up pretty quickly. you have quite a bit of time with the planning, but if the wedding is on a holiday weekend, def do things early.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I haven't stayed in too many hotels on LI, but we're staying at the Sheraton (in suffolk co). They have a loft style bridal suite. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn bridal suite the night before, and even that's nice! I would call around and see if they have any bridal suites for your night.

The Garden City hotel is really nice - i'm sure it's really pricy though.

Also, quick DJ question - How much would you expect to pay for a DJ at an engagement party, DJ/MC and intelligent lights at a reception? Keep in mind this isn't sharad or someone.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

We are staying at the Huntington Hilton.

I am trying to find a dj for the sangeet. So far I have been quoted 750 for no names. Can you believe how ridiculous that is? Does anyone have the number for Bollywood Djs?

This is my exact issue - 750 for no names! and that's w/o MC or lighting - just DJ. $1900 for DJ/MC and lights for the reception - just wanted to know if that was reasonable.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

I just called another DJ.
$750 is the going rate.

We paid that much last year for DJ Gaurav for my parents anniversary party.

On to another question, how many stations do the caterers typically provide in the cocktail hours? What is the standard?
