the first time i met with vinny, he was great. however, any time after that was a nightmare!! he got kinda annoyed at me when i asked for a tasting. but, he was cheap and the food was great so it worked out in the end. so... dont worry, i've been there with vinny also.
How much in advance do you have to book vinny? If i need him at the end of october - I can wait right? FH is insistent we call him asap but my engagement party is in like 3 weeks and so i'm busy w/ that.

What are you guys doing for the limos? I just got a quote for $1000 for two limos dropping me (and bms) and FH (and gm) to the hall and then one limo picking us up from the hall to the hotel at the end of the night. Is that reasonable

So I had a question for anyone that's had any of their functions at Sterling - I wanted to set up a food tasting and they're like no weekends and weekdays before 5!!! I'm like wth - don't these people realize everyone has a job - so i'm pushing them for the weekend and otherwise I'm going to have to either work from home or come home early (i work in the city and get out at 7) - FH is going to have to work from home w/ his schedule and our parents are going to have to leave work early also - did anyone have this experience or if I push them do you think they'll set it up for a sunday morning or something??
FH and I almost had our engagement party at Sterling, but we didn't want the desert show....and they were sooo unwilling to budge on that, that we decided against them. Since my experience with them was that they were pretty difficult about not doing the desert presentation....I'm not sure how understanding they'll be about the tasting. BUT, I have been to an engagement party there, and liked the food!

We're paying a little over that for an escalade limo suv, and a lincoln limo.....but it's only pick up from where we're getting ready, to church, from church to rh. no pick up at the end of the night.......so i think 1000 sounds about right? I actually want to go back and ask the limo guy how much a pick up from rh and drop off at the hotel at the end of the night would cost.

I feel so much better. I was afraid the limo quote was too much. Thank you.
I am just trying to cross things off the list. We just finalized the invitations and Dj for sangeet. Next Limos.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Our invites came in today!!! And i'm sooo happy with them. So, FH and I were really trying to skimp on the invites, we were going to make pocketfolds ourselves. I love how pocketfolds look, but our parents were not having it. And FH and I really wanted something simple...while our parents wanted something more interesting. So it took forever for us to finalize on something, and we just ordered our invites last week!! But they came today and me, fh, my sisters, and my mom spent the past 2 hrs folding the invites, reception cards, and RSVPs.....and we only got through half of it!! Hopefully we'll be able to get the other half done tomorrow, print out the labels, and stuff envelopes on friday and mail them out on Saturday.....i'm sooo excited!!

they are beautiful! Just take your time and do the invites. Don't forget to number the back of your rsvp card because you will get alot back with no names and sometimes people trying to be sneaky and add more people than invited
ohh and don't do what i did send some out with no stamps

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
wow, people actually tried to add guests?? We have a line on the RSVP that says ____ of ____ seats have been reserved in your honor. And, we're going to fill in the second _____, so hopefully people will get they can't put a # higher than that, haha.Yea, thanks for the advice with the #'ing....fh was like, we should just # it as we stuff, but i think it's so much easier to do it as we stuff, so i know i'm going in order and corresponding with the guest list.
When you sent out invites to co-workers or someone you know but you don't know their significant other.....did you just address the envelope as Ms. ______ and guest?

I used Camelot and they gave me an excellent deal. I had a 10 passenger white limo and a Rollys Royce from 1 pm, pickup at Gurdwara, then both cars stayed with us all day ling, running around to the salon and home until 6 pm for $1100. Then we actually had them for an extra hour overtime and had to pay them extra, but that was our fault for being delayed. But I think you should try Camelot, speak to Joe. Also, he sent us a limo at the end of the night to take us to our wedding night destination, complementary, so he'll treat you really good.

Who are you girls using for the mehendi?
We actually had a lot of fun at the mendhi. My aunts bought a bunch of mendhi pens and everybody was putting mendhi on each other, including me. You will be surprised at the artistic ability of some of your friends and family with mendhi. It was soooooooo much fun and I'm glasd that we didn't hire a mendhi artist. That's a good idea as well, because it gets everyone involved and all the mendhi came out beautiful!

That sounds like so much fun. The day i get my mehendi done will be a small affair so maybe we can do that.
The problem is both FH and I are doing the sangeet together which will be so many people
and we need the lady for the party.
