Re: **Official Italian Bride Thread**

Do any of you know or remember the Italian versions of Gloria and the Duck Song (aka La Balla di QuaQua)?

I spent my childhood making fun of these songs with my cousins, but now I love them. I am pretty sure I want both of them played at my wedding - just not the English versions. Anybody remember them?

I loved il ballo del qua qua when I was little.....Gloria was always played at family parties...I think it's Umberto Tozzi that sings it.....

Hey!
We didn't have either song played at our wedding, but I am positive they will know them. Just double-check with them the next time you speak to them.
You are going to be sooo happy with them. The lead singer (forget her name) is amazing. Love her voice!!

Hey girls....Italian girl here too...I consider myself very Italian...

I love the big Italian wedding and everything that goes along with it.

It's funny but I have been to several weddings in Italy and they are nothing like the 'italian' weddings here. They are nice, but more simple. The big 'Italian' bridal party that we have here doesn't even exist there.....

It's so true! I'm first generation American so all of my family is still over there. My dad was the only one who came over. Their weddings are nothing like ours. When my family came from Italy for my sisters wedding and mine, they were blown away by it.

Funny thing too, at all of my cousin's weddings over there, they played so much American/English music and we play so much italian at ours.

Hi Girls,

Just saw this thread and I'm also 100% Italian.

We used Mirage Music and they were excellent. They are located in NJ and traveled to LI for our wedding.

Also, my family was big on the favor thing too..I gave out Waterford Crystal. I got them at a WF warehouse sale in NJ that my mil took me to. I actually think there is one coming up in a couple of weeks. When I find out the info., I will post it..

I also love this thread..

Jo,

do you remember our other Italian thread...hahahahahaaaa
pickled eggplants in cool whip containers....knee high socks with the holes...jewelery crosses bigger than our head aroud our neck...hahahahahaha
that thread was hysterical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know what you mean about the cool whip containers. Everytime I try to find a tupperware in my nonna's cabinets I always seem to get hit in the head with empty Ricotta containers. God forbid we should use the tupperware!

I didn't have snake rings but if i was going far away on a long trip my mother would stuff my bags and luggage with saint cards and make me wear a saint pendant around my neck lol i've carried the little horn in my pocket and in my bag on more than one occasion too

I have a saint card in my wallet...my mom keeps sneaking them in...

Ro, this one's for you..padre pio..

Can I just say that (non-Italian) people have asked me if 'that man' (Padre Pio) is my uncle because his pictures are all over my mother's house.

I thought I was the only one whose parents put saint cards in their things (mine parents sneak them into the dashboard of my car).

haha! me too, nobody ever knows who it is! My parents also put a little Padre Pio action figure (as I so affectionately call it) right smack in the middle of their dashboard in the car. That's when I got my own car....

Don't laugh, I used to have Padre Pio on MY dashboard, plus my St. Christpher medals and my horn.........

i'm with ro on this one i don't think that the grandparents speaking it is enough - i have firends who only heard italian from their grandparents and they can understand some stuff but they can't really speak it.
FH and me are definitely gonna talk to our kids in italian and our dialect because I think that if you start when they're small they could catch on easier

This is what I'll do too. I spoke broken english for a while when I was learning how to speak, but hey I'm fine now.
