Well as im planning I thought It would be a great idea if we got ourselves togetehr to talk about issues facing Jewish brides.
I also thought it would be great to share ideas and vendors.
For example: 1. I was told to get suede black Kippot. They will stay on heads better, the black looks better in pix because there is NO reflection, and the groom looks better with a black kippot on insted of, lets say a sattin color kippot.
2. What are you doing for you chuppah?
3. I am using my brandfathers tallis to wrap us in during part of the ceremony. If that wasnt going to happen I would use it with the chuppah.
4. When do they normally play the horah? Is right after the first dance?
5. Any vendors yet for your Ketubah and Kippot?
6. I saw a great website that Im going to buy the glass and bag from. In general you have to be careful not to use a THICK glass or a lightbulb.
--A thick glass may not break, or g-d forbid cut the grrom! --A lightbulb can be very messy.
By buying this special glass we are going to make something from the shards.....a photoframe...something.
So I hope we can all help eachother.
EDIT!!!!
So I just went to the wedidng salon event at the Harvard Club. It was ok...but I got a brochure for ketubah!!!!
www.mpartworks.com
I also have a coupon code for 10% off. So ask and I will post!!!! I WILL be getting from here!!

As an engagement gift, our parents bought us a challah knife, and also a kiddush cup (for the ceremony).

Besides the hora what other songs do they play usually. I am jewish but reformed
There is actually another song that is played when the bride is the last unmarried daughter in the family. It's called the Mezinka, and it involves placing a crown of flowers on the bride's parents heads, and everyone dancing around them.

I was wondering the same thing. What do they do?? How much are they??
I can then go back and have something made from the broken glass.

I am Jewish, but I am having an interfaith wedding. Got the chuppah from a florist. Rabbi is giving us a ketuba though. Chuppahs are expensive some florists wanted so much money it was crazy. This weekend I passed a Jewish gift store in Merrick, they may have a glass there.

Hello Ladies.
Well as im planning I thought It would be a great idea if we got ourselves togetehr to talk about issues facing Jewish brides.

1. My color is dark purple so i think im going to go with suede dark purple kippot but DEF get the suede, the satin does not look good.
2. We are having the florist do the chuppah with branches and white orchids. My issue is that my dress is ivory and I'm nervous me and the chuppah are going to clash. What do you think?
3. FH is going to use the tallit he had for his bar-mitzvah. This is not 100% necessary to do in the ceremony, I think it is a sephardic custom but I am not sure.
4. The horah is usually right after the ceremony when everyone gets in the room or right after the first dance.
5. We are getting our ketubah and kipput from the Judaica store in Great Neck.
6. I dont think we are getting the special glass (I think we are just going to use a regular glass) but we did see a bunch of things that the store can do with the shards and it's so cool and pretty and such a great keepsake from the wedding.

Be careful with a regular glass. It might be to thick to break!!
I can then go back and have something made from the broken glass.
You can get the same glass from any Judaica store for the same price...and save on shipping. Just an idea.

Re: ~~~~Official Jewish Bride thread~~~~~~
I bought my sister for her bridal showera colored hand blown glass , a matching pouch, and a mezzuzah that matches the glasses that you actually put the shards of glass in from judaism.com, with the kosher scroll for the mezzuzah it was decently priced and sentimental The mezzuzah is like a clear vile so you can see the pieces. She loved it.

How funny if FH could not break the glass!!! Maybe we should get two regular glasses and practice on one before the actual day.

100% great idea. You dont NEED to buy a special glass, but make sure he can break it. I have seen it many times where they go to break the glass and cant :)
This is a GREAT idea!

Not trying to be a debbie downer here - but I have heard that the regular glass is really thick and has sometimes broken through the grooms shoes! OUCH!!!!

Yes, I believe so. My friend had the Mezinka at her wedding, and she was the only daughter.
