Well as im planning I thought It would be a great idea if we got ourselves togetehr to talk about issues facing Jewish brides.
I also thought it would be great to share ideas and vendors.
For example: 1. I was told to get suede black Kippot. They will stay on heads better, the black looks better in pix because there is NO reflection, and the groom looks better with a black kippot on insted of, lets say a sattin color kippot.
2. What are you doing for you chuppah?
3. I am using my brandfathers tallis to wrap us in during part of the ceremony. If that wasnt going to happen I would use it with the chuppah.
4. When do they normally play the horah? Is right after the first dance?
5. Any vendors yet for your Ketubah and Kippot?
6. I saw a great website that Im going to buy the glass and bag from. In general you have to be careful not to use a THICK glass or a lightbulb.
--A thick glass may not break, or g-d forbid cut the grrom! --A lightbulb can be very messy.
By buying this special glass we are going to make something from the shards.....a photoframe...something.
So I hope we can all help eachother.
EDIT!!!!
So I just went to the wedidng salon event at the Harvard Club. It was ok...but I got a brochure for ketubah!!!!
www.mpartworks.com
I also have a coupon code for 10% off. So ask and I will post!!!! I WILL be getting from here!!

Re: ~~~~Official Jewish Bride thread~~~~~~edit for Ketubah!
I got my ketubah from an artist named Goldie Silberberg. She was very reasonably priced and very responsive by email and worked with our rabbi to make sure all hebrew was expressed correctly.

Re: ~~~~Official Jewish Bride thread~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are interfaith, FH is Jewish, and I am looking to get 3 embroidered yarmulke's, one each for FH, FFIL and FBIL, but most of the sites I have seen with embroidery are bulk. Will they also do the customization on individual yarmulkes?

Re: ~~~~Official Jewish Bride thread~~~~~~~~~~~~~
my mom is gonna get the ketubah in Israel where we're from and bring it over. I have no idea if its cheaper there or not tho
funny about the glass. I've been telling FH to practice breaking of the glass, and he said that he doesn't need to I know for sure that many guys practice - its not that easy as it seems. and it would be extremely embarrassing if he steps on it and can't break it. loved the idea of making something out of the shreds! never thought about it
p.s. great idea for the thread!

who are the Jewish Bottle dancers??? Sounds interesting...
I was wondering the same thing. What do they do?? How much are they??
I contacted them and they told me usually they charge abt $1600 for a wedding in NYC but it depends on how many dancers, length of the show, travel distance....
The videos are awesome. I want to have this but my pocketbook doesnt want to let me!!!

Re: ~~~~Official Jewish Bride thread~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, after meeting with the millionith band last night, I learned that the Mezinka is actually played when it's the LAST child married off, regardless of age or sex.
FH and I are both the last to be married, so all four of our parents will be in the center for the Mezinka.

Re: ~~~~Official Jewish Bride thread~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ohhh... I need one too. I've been totally putting that off. I'm looking for someone who is reform and modern. I'm going to have a large # of non-Jewish guests, and want someone who will take time to explain key parts of the ceremony.

Re: ~~~~Official Jewish Bride thread~~~~~~~~~~~~~
okay, so we used the tallis for our chuppah. we used it as the top and used bamboo poles to hold it. we had four guys hold the poles. it was awesome! the hoorah is right afte rthe first dance, so be ready. i thought a little more time, but i didn't lol. ummm we did use the black, it worked out well.
if u have any questions, fm me. i can't think of anything else off the top of my head. good luck!

Does anyone have suggestions for traditional music for our ceremony? I am walking in to Erev Shel Shoshanim, but I need another song for the bridal party.

Is there a rabbi marrying you? That's who you have to ask.

We are interfaith (I'm Jewish, FH is Christian) and we're having a ketubah, mostly because I want one and we'll be married by a rabbi. Have you asked FH what he wants?

Re: ~~~~Official Jewish Bride thread~~~~~~~~~~~~~
my ketubah story....I ordered one and paid for express shipping and it never showed up...so in desperation I looked for ketubah copy on the web, found what I liked, and then printed it out in a facny font.
