They'll be up but the drive will be long for them and i rather have everything in Queens or LI

Hi Gloria-
I just signed on and noticed that you are still looking for RH. I'd like to make a suggestion...not sure if you have looked at this place or if I mentioned it before. I was there for a sweet sixteen not too long ago but the also do weddings. It was my cousin. The food was amazing. Staff was very helpful and accomodating. They are in Elmont which is not a far drive from Queens. Oh and the prices are great too. Its not fancy on the outside but its very nice on the inside. I am having my rehearsal dinner there, going to book it this weekend. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.

aww thank you i may check it out..im so tired of looking it at places so far its either Verdi's of Whitestone or Leonards that im going to visit tomorrow and i may get a discount hopefully.

Oooh ok...i know how that goes. I got to a point where I didn't want to see any more places too. My sister got married at Leonards 2 years ago and they were great. Good luck....but it will all work out!

I would go up there if all my family l lived in the Bronx but i know my Queens family would complain because it would be a long drive for them.

Queens is not far from New Rochelle or the Bronx.... at first I was thinking about alot of our friends and family and how they would have to travel from NJ to Long Island...then I thought..this is MY wedding.. I love the place I picked.... pick a place you LOVE...no matter where it is...they will all show up!! LOL

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

Hi.

I was wondering if you knew a great hair/make-up stylists in Long Island preferably near Westbury Manor which is where my wedding will be taking place on 8/9/09? I'm looking for someone who can deal with my type of hair (thich curly/wavy hair) and make me look fabulous on my day. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. I tried looking on my own and no luck.

Thanks.

Rosa

Its also kind of far for me to go to if i have to do anything at the rh so i rather just be in Queens or borderline of Queens/Nassau.

I was paying after the taxes and gratuity like around 80 something but i was doing it in 2010 and since we wanted to get married now in 2009 we are not able to save as much money so thats why i need a cheaper place.

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

I'm having a Paella station, Sangria and a suckling Pig for my cocktail hour. I agree that majority of these venues lean towards Italian Cuisine. The only way to get what you want is to rent a loft space and hire a caterer and tell them what you want and have them present the food in a very tasteful manner. You can do so much with Spanish food. I went to a wedding 2 months ago and the bride had her caterer fuse Spanish, Asian and Southern cuisine for her cocktail and reception. It was great because you did not what to expect because it wasn't the usual cocktail stations.

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

Mujeres your thoughts.

I just had a 'verbal scuffle' with FH. I'm reserving a room block at the Inn at Fox Hollow for my wedding. The night before my Mom, MOH's and probably a few BM's will stay the night before and the next morning we will all be getting ready there.

The rooms are high end suites. As in separate bedrooms with real kitches, livingrooms, stocked with wine and champagne glasses. Dinner is included as is breakfast. FH is already upset that I am paying for 2 suites for my BM's and Mom to stay the night before and get ready.

My parents live in an apartment and my mother was in tears that she did not have a pretty house for me to leave from- hence the hotel.

Long story short, he is upset because he feels it is unlikely people will stay and fill up the remaining 5 rooms to meet our requirement because each room is $219. I'm thinking families with small children from out of town will and also, some of our friends who want to get ripped may all split a room- comfortably sleeps 4 so $60 pp. Am I crazy?

He says only blanquitos do this. Sigh.

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

Do you have to book 5 rooms, can you book less in case people back out and dont want to book the rooms? BTW i love Fox Hollow's rooms they are gorgeous i visited Fox Hollow awhile back in my first round of RH visiting.

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

Minimum block is 10, we have to fill 7 to meet the requirement.

With my girls and me staying the night before it's 5 remaining nights. I'll probably pay for a suite for my family the night of the wedding- that leaves 4 rooms.

Our room will be free and it's worth $380 since it's the Royal Suite.

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

If you can't meet the minimum i would say just get the rooms that you are going to use and then the honeymoon suite if anyone else wants to stay then they would have to just do it the regular way by going to the front desk or stay at another hotel around there.
