Quick tasting question:

How many entrees did you try during your tasting?

From what I scanned on this thread, a few brides mentioned that they tried 4 entrees, however, my bm told me we'd get to try 3.

We were told three but tried four because we were really unsure of which fish to choose. We tried the steak, the chicken kiev, the salmon and the sole.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

Hi everyone. We had our food tasting yesterday. We can't wait, everything was SO yummy. We chose for our main entrees, Prime Rib, Salmon, and probably Chicken Kiev, although the Chicken Florentine was so good! The cocktail hour food was delicious, especially the baby lamb chops. It is coming so quick, I can't wait! We also picked out our cake, etc.

lilacwine - we picked chicken francaise. Figured those who pick chicken at a wedding generally want something a little more boring (no offense to the chicken wedding eaters ).

tp329 - YAY!!! what did you go with for the salad and the appetizer?

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

We haven't booked yet, but we got to do a tasting already. They said they would hold our date until the tasting, then if we liked everything the deposit would be due --if we didn't pay the deposit, they would not hold the date anymore. We are 99% positive that we are going back to book, but for those who couldn't get a tasting before booking, that is ridiculous.

Also, for those who did get a tasting, are you having the Crepe Florentine for an appetizer. I loved it, but FH thinks it is a little 'much'. Just curious what everyone else thought.

We're going with the crepe florentine for the appetizer and using penne ala vodka for one of out pasta stations.

Choosing the appetizer was one of the toughest food choices.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

The crepe florentine was REALLY good. We chose that. We wanted to do the chicken florentine for our chickend dish, but that would be spinach in the appetizer, and spinach for the chicken dish...so we went with kiev for now. FH chose the swan puff for a desert and while its very cute, I think we should go with the ice-cream. We also threw in 2 orders of chicken fingers for the 2 kids there. Here is our menu:

to- People LOVED the Swan cream puff! 2 different people sent me picture of it
My brother ate 2! ( my cousin doesn't eat dairy, so she gave him hers.)

We went with the asparaagus for the appetizer. I was torn between that & the crepe , but the asparagus was so pretty , we thought it would be ncie to go with a nice presentation for the appetizer sicen that's the fitrrst thing you see., basicallym b/c I needed SOMETHING to be the deceding factor.

Eileen, I tollay agree with your chicken philosophy. We had Chicken with Champagne sauce for that reason.
We had the Chautea Briand & salmon as our other entrees.

The other big hit at our wedding was the pastrami at the carving station. That was all DH-- he didn't know if everyone would like it, but we figured it was a minor detail, , it was fine to be a little selfish -but it was a big hit.
So was the stuffed cabbage, which Kristy told us no one every gets

We almost went with the asparagus for the same reason!

How thick was the sauce on the champagne chicken?

We were going to go with the asparagus, but my tasters said it wasn't tasty enough. The crepe was really really good.

I didn't know chicken champagne was an option. What does it taste like?

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

We didn't taste the champagne chicken at the tasting. When we were making our final decsions they said it was something new. So maybe it never became a standard option for them.
Since I didn't see /taste it at the tasting I don't remember too much about it. I tasted my moms at the reception. It was a thin, sort of herby wine sauce.

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

Hmmm, sounds good. I really think all their food is great. None of us were thrilled with the baked filet of sole, it was a bit dry, maybe it was cooked the earliest of our choices. Or maybe we were wowed by the salmon.

Tourist - My FH will thank you...I'll let him keep one of his few decisions in the planning - The Swan shall stay!

I haven't gone for my tasting yet, but I can't wait!! After reading all of the tasting posts, one question has come up..

Here goes: We have chosen the 2-star menu and I understand that FH and I will chose 3 entrees.

However, does that mean that at dinner our guests will have a choice of 3 entrees or will I have to send my guests cards with my invites to get their picks before our wedding date?

I'm just a bit confused...

Oh god, no! It may be relatively inexpensive but they're NOT tacky!!! You will choose 3 entrees and your guests will get a choice, that night, of which entree they want.

That's AWESOME!!! Thank goodness. I was so worried that I had to send out entree selections w/ my invites! Whew!! I am so excited about my menus now!! Thanks eogara!!

Re: Official Milleridge Thread!

No, no! Also, with the prime rib, my mom was concerned from all our family coming from Greece...because they like their meat like a hockey puck, nice and well well done and was afraid it won't be cooked enough for them and Leslie assured us that each person is asked how they want it done.

ETA: Don't forget if most of your friends drink Bud Light instead of Coors that it comes with...you can switch it. We did!
