I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where us out of town brides can help each other out with the planning. It is very difficult to plan from far away. We can also vent on here too.
My name is Sheena and I live in Florida. It is so difficult to plan a wedding in NY and sometimes I wish I would have made it easier on myself and get married here. I thought it would be better since all my family lives in NY. So far I have all my major vendors booked except limo.
I look forward to meeting you ladies and getting ideas.

Re: Official Out Of Town Bride Thread
I'm kind of an OOT bride....I live in CT, about 2 hours away. So while I can go down for the weekend to do stuff its still a pain since a lot of vendors don't meet with clients on the weekends as they have weddings. But everything has worked out ok and I have a great mom and sister who have helped a lot.

Aww Sheena you started a thread about us OOT'ers! Yay!!
I'm Kristen, I live in FL as well. This OOT planning thing is getting old LOL...I am so stressed out. I order alot of stuff online that gets shipped to my parents and everytime I fly up I have to go through everything and see whats missing and it's just plain ridiculous .
And to top it off, I am stressed out about other OOT'ers weddings...cough cough Sheena you need a dress!!!

I love this post! I live in Northern Virginia and am planning a wedding in Long Island exactly 7 months from today! My FH is from Nebraska so his parents are definitely not around to help. I think 85% of our guests are going to be from out of town! My parents are a huge help with vendors, contracts, etc. but sometimes I wish I was there to make this all so much easier!

Oh, nice thread! Wish there would have been one of these when I was planning. We relocated to Philadelphia shortly before getting engaged. Good luck girls - hope everything turns out perfectly!

Re: Official Out Of Town Bride Thread
Hey guys My name is Dina & I grew up on LI with Megan FH & I met on Long Island and both work in the stock market.... Last year when the market fell hard FH got worried about the cost of living in NY and asked if I would consider living in Texas. And with coming here often and loving it I agree'd to try it.
So here I am planning a wedding from 1600 miles away, working 65+ plus hours a week, between two jobs and having a nervous break down.
Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

Hey Dina,
You actualy inspired me to put this together and I'm glad I did. If you need anything we are all here I hope you don't give up and just keep on planning. Just book all your vendors and everything else will fall into place. If it is really overwhelming I would say cut out all the details that might not be necesary. In the end you are marrying the love of your life and thats all that matters.

I was thinking maybe like a long weekend in like January or February so that FH and I can have a Jack and Jill shower. I started emailing my MOH some ideas because she is not really good with planning. I hope to get ideas from you all. I was going to have them write to send gifts to our home. It worked really well for my baby shower so we plan to do the same.

Re: Official Out Of Town Bride Thread
I think this thread is a great idea!!!!! I'm Erika - I am an OOT bride from Florida!! To add in to the mix, I'm originally from Ohio so we will have Florida people, Ohio people and ofcourse NY people at the wedding!!
Planning this has been so stress because I don't know the island at all! It is FH home. We decided to have it there because his family is quite a bit larger than mine.
