I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where us out of town brides can help each other out with the planning. It is very difficult to plan from far away. We can also vent on here too.
My name is Sheena and I live in Florida. It is so difficult to plan a wedding in NY and sometimes I wish I would have made it easier on myself and get married here. I thought it would be better since all my family lives in NY. So far I have all my major vendors booked except limo.
I look forward to meeting you ladies and getting ideas.

I'm not an OOT bride but I might as well be because my FH lives OOT and I hardly do anything without him coming to NY which is hardly ever. I have all of my vendors booked but it's still hard because I have tons of little things left to do. I live in Queens and I do not drive so LI seems like a whole other state to me...lol

I wish I could go to NY every weekend. I'm sure your dress looks amazing. I think maybe stop looking at other dresses once you found your dress. I know it will look amazing on you.
FH says I drive him crazy too.

I'm sort of an OOT bride too.... I live in Staten Island but we're getting married at the Vineyard Caterers in AQuebogue. I wanted something different than the typical weddings over here and I fell in love with The Vineyards as soon as I pulled into the parking lot. Every so often I think I must be nuts. But since we're doing a 'Wedding Weekend' I get to stretch the celebration over three days, so that makes me very happy. I've got some of the big stuff out of the way, I have the place, the photographers, Video, DJ's. Now I have to get a Priest or married Priest to marry us, a dress, and hair and make up, and flowers. The rest I can do from out here. So If anyone can recommend a priest or married priest (FH's 2nd Marriage so can't be an 'official Catholic wedding, but I'd like a symbolic one) with a sense of humor, that would be great.
Good Luck to Everyone!

We bought a place in West Palm. I plan on moving the day after the wedding. Most of my things are there already. I think the main reason that he does stuff with me is because he knows that I am over top so he likes to be there to make sure that I stay on budget and that I dont turn the whole wedding into a party....lol

I did book my photographer and videographer over the phone. I love my photographer-j'adore love ...I took my e-pics with them when I was in NY and we even arranged to have them take pics of my daughter's baptism that I had in NY. I really think I clicked with my videographer on the phone. He was so cool and accomadating. He had reasonable prices and does great work. Check him out if you are still looking for video..---Couped Up Productions. I just did research on this site. Although when I booked J'adore they were not as famous as now. There was only 1 person that used them for their wedding and 1 trash the dress.

Congrats and Welcome!!! I wish I could afford to do a wedding weekend. I am an Episcopalian and I know my dad's priest does second marriages. Fm me if that is ok. He is not catholic but he can get you married. He talks so loud he doesn't need a mic.

Hi ladies, my name is Caitie and I am living with my fiance in California trying to plan our wedding on long island. Most all of both of our families are located around New York and my family is mostly on long island. It is definitely really hard. We were there for two weeks over the summer and I picked out my dress and bridesmaid dresses and our location but everything else is just starting to come together. We're hoping to get our photographer booked while we are there for Christmas.
