~*~*OFFICIAL PROPOSAL STORY THREAD~*~*

Well, you asked for it...

Joey actually proposed twice in the same day on our Southern Caribbean cruise. The first time was beautiful, we were on the back of a catamaran sailing back from our last excursion on the last port (St. Croix). The sun was low and we'd had a great day snorkeling. Joey said some really nice things and told me that he wanted me to be the woman he spent the rest of his life with, that he wanted me to marry him. I said I would. Then we got back to the room and napped. When he woke up he claimed he couldn't remember saying anything because he had been drinking too much rum punch! I was cheated out of a beautiful proposal! He did ask me again that evening when we were getting ready for dinner but I couldn't really be sure if he was serious or not considering the earlier event and not knowing how much rum punch was still in his system!

The ring wasn't ready when we left for the cruise so Joey picked it up from his mom on the Monday when we got back. They were running around being all secretive and what not but not very subtle. I got no sleep on Monday night because I knew I'd been proposed to twice, knew the ring was around, but didn't know why it wasn't on my finger! I guess Joey wanted to do it right and make it special.

The next day Joey messaged my parents over Facebook (!!) to ask them for their blessing (they said yes). I had already arranged to have dinner in the city with my friend that night, so on the train back Joey was messaging me to find out where I was A LOT - I thought something was up. Then he was 10 minutes early to pick me up from the train station which never happens. When we got back to his apartment, Joey claimed to be too tired to open the door. I took his keys and walked in to find a trail of rose petals leading to a single rose on an ottoman (like the show the Bachelorette - my fav lol). I sat on the ottoman and he got on one knee and told me that this time it was 'for real' and asked me to marry him. Then he gave me the box which had a ring pop in it. I had told Joey that I would marry him for a ring pop so of course I said yes (for the third time!) Then he pulled out the most beautiful ring I have ever seen (which is lucky because I'd already said yes!) and put it on my finger!

I was so excited I called my parents even though it was 2am their time. Joey's first call was to Panda House Chinese to get food because he'd been so nervous he hadn't eaten. Then we remembered Jodi (my pup) was still in her bag (I dropped it as soon as I got in the apartment) and we let her out. We spent the evening celebrating with his parents and brother & girlfriend.

So actually I really got three proposals!

My proposal took place at the school im teaching at. I teach autistic children in the city. I asked him to come take some boxes home since it was the end of the year. When he came, I went to go my supervisor to help us load the boxes. By the time distractions happened and I got back to the room. My children were holding signs, Will You Marry Mr. Brad? with my FH on his knee. Half of my coworkers were in my room, all with tears. It was out of a story book.

The funny part is when I started crying, my students thought something happened to me because they dont understand emotions, so all of the children started tantruming.

Moments after a short snowfall and dinner with Mike's family to commemorate his mother's birthday, we traveled across town to the St. Mark's Place area of Manhattan. With Mike continuing to check the weather from his blackberry, Marisa snapped photos of her fiance and the ice cold Sam Adams lagers that were on the table. If you didn't know, Marisa is enthralled with photography and almost forgot her camera at home that day.

After a few rounds, we decided to head towards Rockerfeller Center. At this point, none of the snow flurries were sticking so it was pretty much a snow and rain mix. This wasn't the plan that Michael originally thought but, he was going with the flow. It was almost 15 degrees out at that time and Marisa was ready to go home. Mike insisted that they walk into Central Park and Marisa had no idea what was going to happen next.

Marisa took a few photos of the city lights reflecting on the Central Park Pond (see photo). We each took our turn in front of this great site. With freezing fingers and ears, Mike said 'I have a surprise for you.' Marisa thought, no, this couldn't be it? Could it? It happened in a flash that she didn't have time to think. After closing her eyes for a few seconds, Marisa opened her eyes to see Mike down on one knee. She immediately burst into tears and we can't remember if Marisa actually said 'Yes' at that time.

We have been engaged since December 5, 2009.

We went to a bridal expo at The Watermill and before going inside he said he wanted to show me the perfect place in the gardens where we could do our engagement pictures when the time came. It was raining and we walked back there. Almost to the watermill there was a HUGE puddle so I suggested maybe he should show me another time cause I didnt wanna get all wet haha. So he picked me up and carried me over the puddle. We walked over to the spot where the watermill is and all the gorgeous flowers and he said, 'this is such a nice spot for engagement pictures right?' so I said 'yes it is but some photographers charge extra to do the pics outside of their studio.' so then he said, 'oh ok, well if we can't do that then how about you just marry me?' I turned around and he was down on his knee with the most gorgeous ring! After finally catching my breath I said YES! It was soo romantic and the most amazing and exciting feeling ever!

A few weeks before we got engaged, my FH had taken me to look at rings & what styles I liked etc.. I had a blast trying them all on and picked out this one that I was in love with.

On September 20th, 2009 we had a christening party to go to so in the morning I woke up and went to get my hair and makeup done.
The party wasnt until 6pm so FH asked if I wanted to go for a walk in the park before we went.
I said sure, not knowing I was about to get engaged and he had went to the park earlier that morning to write 'will you marry me?' in the sand.

So we were walking by the park and I was taking pictures as I usually do. Then FH starts saying 'I know you think I don't have the money to buy you the ring you want and you're always saying how I'm going to get a .25 cent machine ring'
and I'm laughing at this point because I'm like what is he talking about.
So then he goes walk over here with me, and I see in the sand it says will you marry me and I turn around to him and he's down on one knee with a 25cent machine ball with my ring in it.
Turns out it was the ring I had picked out a few weeks ago but with a bigger center stone! and I didn't know but FH had ordered it the same day we went there, but I had no clue!
I was so happy! and FH also brought his camera with his tripod so we re-enacted everything to get pictures of the proposal!

So, my FH and I do this thing called geo-caching...its pretty much scavenget hunting all over the place with coordinates, clues and a GPS. You find boxes with Log books that say the name of that cache, and you sign it, and then put something in, and take something with you-its awesome...ANYHOW- we were going up to the top of the Gordon Levy preserve to sit and have breakfast one morning, and he said he wanted to get a geo-cache up there. So, I found it and I sit down and open the box, and the log book said 'johnny and alicia...Day one' and when I turned and asked him 'what is this??' He was down on one knee with the ring, and said 'Alicia, will you make me the happiest man in the world, and marry me?' !!!!!

At first I didn't even notice a ring!!! I was on my knees, so I like, knee-ran over to him to hug him..and then I saw the ring-- WHOA!!!

And here is the best part- while I was looking for the geo-cache, he had set up his digital camera over on a rock or something, so...I HAVE VIDEO OF MY PROPOSAL!!!!!! Can you believe that!!! this is a freeze frame from that!

I am at work and I am for ALL of the stories!!
So sweet! Everyone is unique and differente BUT yet Romantic!!

Now, My story is LONG... So bear with me... I think this one could be the Longest one! Sorrryyyy

My FH was always pretending to proposed to me... because he knew I would be waiting for it... Well I was waiting since 09/2009... He would give me romantic Speech and i would get SO excited and be liek 'THIS IS IT'... But it was NOT it.. so i woudl get sort of depress....

ANYWAYS....

I remember as if it was yesterday.... January 25, 2010.. I was working and FH was supposed to be off but they called him at the last second, He was very mad but decided to go to work...
Around 2pm I had a HORRIBLE Migrane!! I mean a really bad one.. I so watned to go home.. So i text FH
V: 'Baby I will leave at 4, I will pick u up ok? Im not feeling good'
L:'No honey, Wait for me at 6pm, just work the whole day.'
V: '*** dont U get it?!!! I have a Horrible Migrane... I DONT FEEL GOOD!'...
L:'Sorry honey... OMG My Boss just came here and we need to go into a Meeting, i dont think I will get out at 4, I will call u later, Bye bye'
So I was like.. shot i guess i gotta stay late then...

It was 4:30 and My head was just KILLING me. I texted him
V:'Honey I am leaving at 5:00, i cant take it. wait for me I will pick u up'
L: ' No honey I am in a meetin, will take the bus at 5:05'..
V: 'No Honey, Dont take the Bus. i will be there at 5:10.'
Then I became lil suspicios with this text
L: ' Sorry honey did not see ur text msge I took the bus, I will be in Roosevelt Fied at 5:05'

Now It was 4:55pm.. So I was like A bus Will NOT do 10 mins from Roselyn to Roosevetl Field...
So as soon as 5:00pm came, I got out and Called him...
and callled him... and callled him... and callled him... and callled him... and callled him... I must have called him like 15x and NO ANSWEr!!!

I was literaly thinkin 'OMG HE IS CHEATIN ON ME.. OMG THAT IS WHY HE IS MAKING AN EXCUSE OF ME NOT GOING TO HIS JOB!!!' I was FREAKIN OUT.. thinkin the worse fo the worse...
Then He picked up, But he picked up Agitated, it sounded the same way ppl sound after a very HEAVE Sexual Experience... So u can imagina *** was i thining now!!

V: 'OMG *** ARE U DOING? WHERE ARE U? ARE U FKIN SOMEONE? *** WHY ARE LIKE DA??!!! OMG '
L: 'Im sorry honey, i was in the Station in Macys... I didnt hear the phone.. I was not wth anyone else.. U kidding me?'
So I thought 'Come Veronica U trust ur Fh... erlax... plus u have a horrible Headache now.. so just relx..'

I picked him up from macys and went to his house... I felt asleep for like 1.5hrs.. and I woke feelin much better and we started making out ...
After that, FH says
L:'Honey I have an interview today for another restaurant, They will pay me $200 per day.'
V: 'OMG! That is so EXCITED HONEY! Why u did not tell me! Wow $200 could help us so much! OMG OMG! Of course Let's go NOW!'
L:' Here is the address...'
V:'Ohhh This is Nautical Mile! I know where this is... Let's go...'
I was getting ready (AS USUAL) and He looks at me like *** and says'WHY ARE U GETTING READY?!! '
v:'Well I always get ready, What are u talkign about?'

... We stepped out and since it was raining the whole day, it was cloudy, but at that time, it stopped raining and we could see the Moon and the starts and he said 'YESS THE MOON & STARS'...I thought to myself '***... I am the one excited for moon n stars not him...'
But i did not pay attention...

We got to Nautical Mile and The restuarant was close.. So i thought 'Shoot the so called manager lied to him... there is no one here... but i gotta be positiv to him..'
I said
'Dont worry honey, Manager will come soon, anyway its early.... '
L: 'Why dont we walk around then...'

So We started walking and walking...
Then he became nervous and try to show me EVERYTHING around the ocean, restaurants, Bridges, Sky... and He started to walk behind me.. I didnt pay any attention cuz Fh knows I LOVE the Ocean, Moon & Stars... So i was enjoyin Myself... Enjoyin the quitness of the place...
Then, He said
L: 'Honey how many stars do you see...?'
V: 'I dunno amor.. there are a lot...
We started to look at the sky...
L: ' Count them...'
V:'No way! There are TOO many! I will NEVER finish!'
L: 'Well count the ones on top of us...'
V: ' Fine then... I will count the stars... 1,2,3........ {as I am counting with my finger pointin at the stas I was thinki *** am i countin ALL of the stars....}..... 35, 36, 37.'
L: 'Just so you know its 7:45 exacly.'
V: 'wait honey, I am coutning the stars... Look I think there are 37 Stars...'
And I look to my right hand side and HE WAS THERE... ON HIS KNEES! WITH THE LOVELY RING...
I was in shock.. and He Said...
'I love you nena... Will you marry me? I promise to...'
And I started to scream as He was about to make his promise to me
'OMG OMG OMG U PROPOSING!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!!!! YESS!!! YES I DO!!! I WANT TO BE UR WIFE!!!! OMG OMG OMG!!!!'''
We kissed.. Hug.. cryied......... and We were ALL excited....

At 8:00pm, I said 'OMG amor, Come on lets go to ur interview....'
He said 'No amor, there are no interviews it was just a set up so we could come here to ur favaorite spot.. Near the Ocea, Stars & Moon... Whne u called me early and I sounded tired, I was running because the bus was late and I was at Zales picking up the ring...'

I felt SO BAD for thnkin the opposite of what he was doing...
But that was our story...
I love him.... with all my heart....

It was december 24th Christmas Eve LOL FH had told me on the ride over to Aunts house that his brother and his wife were arguing and that he didnt know what to o that he felt really bad. So like 15 mins after we get there he says I haveto go get my brother he is really upset I said OK I didnt think anything. SO now time is passing and Im thinking where is he. So I go to call him and I see my truck coming down the road, so then his mom walks in the room where I was and I said OMG I cant believe they are fighting and she was like what ever we should just stay out of it and I said they are here now and she said just come back in the living room so I go to walk back and then my phone rings its FH He says you gotta come outside theres a guy out here dressed as santa and hes dancing down the street IM like What so I look out the window and I tell his dad who's sitting there so Im looking and Im like WTheck there is hahaha I figured it was a neighbor or something who was having a party and my truck was still in the road running and the santa was standing by the drivers window so I figured my FH was still sitting in the drivers seat talking to the Santa So i got my coat on to go see the santa(like a little kid) I go out there and this santa is dancing and stumbling down the street and my FBIL yells 'Jenny you gotta see this guy' So Im looking at the santa and Im walking down the driveway and the santa starts coming towards me and I see his sneakers and Im like OMG is that Stephen and he gets on one knee and proposes I scream shut up are you serious. It was the cutest thing ever it was perfect there was christmas music playing and snow on the ground. My parents were hiding behind a car down the road and they got to see the whole thing. FH hates when I show people the pics of the engagement he said he dressed like santa for me not for every1 else but I will sneak one hahaha

SAME!!!!! that was beautiful !!

so last year, around June when we had been together for 1 year, every time i would look at bridal magazines (my sis was getting married in July) and FH was around i would show him the pics of the rings and say 'wow, this one is pretty, you can get me this one' and we would laugh.
a few weeks later, he told me to really start looking for what i liked so that we could go shopping for my ring once i had narrowed it down. he wanted me to show him every ring i liked and then we would narrow it down togther to what we both really loved.

in August, we went to a jewelry store in NYC that sold the brand of the ring that i fell in love with. i fell inlove with that ring and i just had the image in my head. when we got to the store, i fell in love with the band of my ring but not the prongs. i saw another prong setting on another ring and i was like to the dealer and FH, wouldn't it be amazing if you could take that band and this prong setting and make one ring....

In September we went on vacation and i though we would get engaged there, but we didn't While at Disney, in Downtown Disney, there was a jewelry hut that sold this beautiful necklace and pendant that i fell in love with, but it was just too expensive. Fh says to me, don't worry, i'll get you something better soon and we just let it go...

In October, FH kept talking about going somewhere every weekend and that is so not him because we will usually do stuff locally if we are not busy on weekends but he wanted to like, do stuff, so i was like, ok...not really putting anything together. On October 15, the day after Columbus Day, i fell down the stairs heading down into the train stations, bad. I broke my tailbone and was black and purple for 1 month. i couldn't sit down, at all, for 4 weeks and once i was able to sit down, i couldn't do so for long periods of time. it was right before Halloween so FH had planned for us to go to Busch Gardens and enjoy their 'fright fest' and the 8 hour car ride left me in unbearable pain and really cranky.

A few weeks later, in November, i was starting to feel a little bit better and i'm a huge history buff. Fh hasn't never been to any of the NYC museums, except for the Museum of natural History with me, so i said to him, have you ever been to the Cloisters Museum? he said no and I told him about how its a Medieval Castle and how he would loev it because it has a huge terrace and gardens. He jumped at the chance to go. That Sunday, it was insanely HOT for November! it was like 75 degrees outside and we were so hot in our long sleeves. we caught so much traffic on the ride there and FH was pissed! which was weird because he never stresses about anything. EVER! so i kept telling him to calm down b/c the museum didn't close until 4pm and it was only like noon. we would have plenty of time to see the whole thing with time to spare.

We finally get to the museum and we start walking around. While we alk i'm telling him stuff about the things we are seeing but he seems all spaced out and not paying attention to me. i just shrugged it off. once he saw the terrace outside he took my hand and ran out there saying that it was beautiful. i had brought my camera with me and was talking pictures of the view. Fh was behind me and he kept telling me that it was beautiful out there. I kept saying yes. I looked down on the ledge and there was a lady bug just sitting there and in my mind i was thinking, oh a lady bug! i call FH love bug and i equate the too and i thought that that day was just perfect so far!

So Fh from behind me says, I have something for you, and i said oh yeah! and i turn around and he has this blue puch in front of him. he said, i wanted to give this to you before, but i had to look for it. Now i'm thinking that its the necklace with the pendant that i had seen on vacation that he found up here! so he starts pulling out the chain and i'm thinking OMG! he found it (not thinking its the ring at all) and then he was like oh no, i dropped it! and the chain fell inside the puch again. so then he reaches in again and drops to one knee and pulls out this ginormous ring and asks me to marry him and says all these wonderfully sweet things to me! i start to tear up and say yes and hug!!! AND it was the ring that i had picked out and FH made sure that they used the band that i loved and the prong setting to make my own custom ring!

We walked around for a bit more after that all in love and being lovey dovey and then we went home to show my parents and then went to his house to show his parents and sisters who all knew were were going to get engaged that day!

i LOVE my FH!!!!!!!!
